Ok I said Walsh would win it, but my main point was they wouldnā€™t let a Kiwi win it for a series vs Samoa and Tonga.

I can see the point but if people and pundits are going to talk up Samoa and Tonga as legitimate challenges to the top dogs, shouldnā€™t it count just as big if a team beats them and if a player plays that well against them.

But seriously though. That's absolutely embarrassing for the game. Grant wasn't even one of Australia's three best players. Just wanted to give their little mate a trophy to make him feel better about laying an egg in the grand final.

Agreed, was a shocking decision to give it to Grant. When i saw the panellists, it all made sense. I feel bad for Brown, another chip on the shoulder hopefully.

I think itā€™s just in-built bias, and as others have said, a lot of Queenslanders on that panel.
 
3 Aussies (QLDers), 1 Pom, 1 Kiwi. No surprise why the Ashes series outweighed the Pacific Championships but indeed an embarrassment.

You'd like to think it's extra motivation but realistically the Golden Boot in 2025 is an afterthought at best, a bit of a joke at worst. Nowhere near the prestige it used to have with the way international rugby league is treated. Doubt he was motivated by winning it in the first place.

Agree, it just would have been good to see Brown win it given the scrutiny he has been/will be under. Anyways, most know it's a shocking decision to not give to him anyway.
 
Iā€™m quietly confident DB and Ponga will form a lethal combination. Actually the whole left edge with Best and Lucus could be unstoppable. It may take a bit to click but it will happen. Ponga will play for NZ in the World Cup. Heā€™ll announce it after origin this year.

Iā€™m not sure about the rules personally but couldnā€™t the IRL block Ponga from making the switch as you cannot play for a tier one nation and origin?

So couldnā€™t they just say ā€œyou have recently played for Queensland so we will be blocking you from representing New Zealandā€?

Or is that specific rule a one way street?

Yeah I donā€™t know the details about that rules but heard he will have some hurdles.
 
Zero doubt Dylan Brown was robbed, obvious the panellists barely watched it if at all.

Reminds of Ruan Simms picked Api Korisou for Manly for 3 daily m points when he went off after 15 with a HIA when she didn't watch the game and was a judge.
