Dylan Brown discussion

He has been held back so long that when he finally gets a chance to play in his favourite position absolutely tears it up and shows what he is made of. Hopefully his hunger continues for 10 years and his mistreatment by the eels inspires his desire.
How did the eels mistreat him? They told him he would play different positions if he didn’t want to come here early and he agreed. Bit unfair there

They missed out on the top 8 by 3 wins while playing their best 5/8 option and probably their best try scorer out of position. It gave off big Ricky Stuart vibes, throwing the toys out of the cot since he didn't re sign, well jokes on parra losing 6 games by 10 or less and Dyl brown was watching from the sidelines for the most part of it

Add to that he treated the club very fairly and with a lot of respect throughout the whole process. Just wanted the chance to go out on good terms and pay back the fans with some good performances. There was a huge discrepancy between how he treated the club and how Ryles treated him.

the biggest concern with the team is our kicking game. Brown not known for a good long kicking game. Sharpe not a noted kicker ether. If they go with smith he doesn’t seem to have a super elite kicking game although he seems okay.

I know Stacey Jones is a bit divisive among NZ fans but it’s hard to fault him in terms of the roles he gave Foran and Brown in that one.

Dylan can absolutely be the best running 6 in the game, and the best by a lot at that. That’s always been the potential he has. If there’s a more dynamic ball runner in that position right now, that player isn’t as skilful; any 6 who’s more skilful than him isn’t as dangerous running the ball or as able to impose himself physically.

The kick contest try leapt out to me, his strike rate in making something happen in the NRL when he does that is really really high, yet it somehow doesn’t find itself in the game plan that often. I’ve seen the dude out leap fullbacks; land the ball on an opposing half’s head and he’s an Eli Katoa style mismatch. We should go for that twice a game.

Its an issue.. There are solutions within the roster but require something unorthodox

Sandon should do more than half of the kicking, plus the goalkicking, and it’s something which should be his main development focus.

He’s done a thorough apprenticeship as the main guy steering a side around already without the pressure of the kicking load, with us it’s the main thing we should add back in.

I want Brown & Ponga making tries happen.

22 tackles with only 1 missed as well.

It'll be a nice change from Cogger lol
Cogger is a great back up. That’s all he will ever be.

It’s a shame because if you watched him in juniors he was better than Cleary. I think he may have got an injury and he never really developed. Really if all things went right lamb and cogger should still be our halves. If they had reached their potential we probably have at least a solid halves paring.

It’s as clear as day he is a running six not an organising 7. That’s just not his game. He’s an elite 6. Although he should slowly work more on being an option for long kicks. What get me excited what I’ve watched of Sandon Smith is he can be that organised 7 we need and he wants the ball. They will be an excellent halves combo.
