theres been alot of talk about signing up mark gasnier but really when you look a it we have got a mint of players in our backline (when were not hit hard by injuries) although i would love to have gaz i think our number1 priority should be to resign cooper vuna

he has shown on numerous occasions (last night for example) what he is capable of, an he is younger and has a good chemistry with alot of our boys,
not to mention a fan favourate

he is always smiling an seems to be a very optamistic guy and he is someone who i believe is very good for the club

in my opinion he has done more than enough to have earnt a contract extention before we bring in gaz

your thoughts??

Yeah for next year id like it to be

1. Gidley
2. Uate
3. Sau
4. Gasnier
5. Vuna

so then we keep Sau and Vuna together because they seem to work well, and Gas & Uate :dancing: dont re-sign Naiqama for next year, Mad Dog should retire but i dont see it happening really aswell as Simmo.

lol i agree completely JEKK

Jake i love your backline but what about mcmanus?

McManus hasnt played in a lonnnng time. He may not be the man he was when he returns. I dont mean to sound pesamistic but you see it a lot with stars who spend too long a stretch on the sideline.

We need Vuna!....he is really turning into a favourite at Newcastle. He is always smiling and always trying to pump up the crowd. And those kick returns are amazing!

As mbnsw said McManus hasnt played in a long time, and i dont think he offered much after Origin before his injury, he was number 2 or 5 as well & Uate & Vuna have definately hit form. It will be tough for McManus to get back in the starting line up imo.

You mean the 15 minutes he played before getting hurt?

Daily Telegraph reported today that Vuna was being linked with several overseas union clubs.

Unfortunately... Vuna, McManus & Uate are all of NRL standard so minus injuries I think it may be a case of one of them has to go

He is playing sooo much better when hes running the ball straight! He hits nice and hard, much like Uate.

Dont think he'll go elsewhere, priority for Vuna would be staying at Newy anyway.

I hope that's not the case. All three of them are quality players, why not shift Vuna into centre. I don't think anything will be lost with him there and he'd be a great partner to McManus on the wing. Jimmy will be able to help him out with those, off the chain defensive reads. Sau who at his best is another wrecking ball would compliment Uate by drawing players in to stop him and unleashing the Fijian flyer on the outside. I guess it's all just wishful thinking but that's the way I'd go.

Yeah Vuna is a priority. How come the Knights are resigning nevilles and not looking at our best off-contract players. Everything the Knights board seems to do is against what everyone else wants.

Nothing wrong with having 3 first grade quality wingers. There are always going to be injuries/suspensions so Vuna could shift to centre for a few games if we have an innjury there.

I really can't see Gasnier playing for anyone but the Dragons, expecially with the clause stating he can't paly for anyone else until 2012 unless he gets permission from the Dragons

Nothing wrong with having 3 first grade quality wingers.

Nothing wrong with it at all - but whoever is missing out between the 3 will feel he could have a cemented wingers spot elsewhere.

From a clubs perspective it's great to as you said cover injuries/form. But a player would feel he could go somewhere else and have a cemented spot.

Sign him ASAP. I was critical of Vuna's performances earlier in the year when he ran sideways, but last night, when he ran straight he knocked roosters down left, right and centre. Macdougall is old, Mcmanus won't get back in with Uate and Vuna and have Simpson at prop or get rid of him. Simpson and Macdougall have past their day. That way we could have the cash to go all out on Gasnier aswell as retaining Vuna.

You do wonder whether Vuna is chucking a Hayne and playing for his contract?

He's been inconsistent. He was great at the end of last season when he was playing for his spot, and now he's playing for his contract.

I hope I'm wrong and he is actually inspired by Uate's form.

i hope that is the case and he is inspired

uate said last night that him an cooper have a friendly try scoring comp going on between them which seems to only be benifiting us lol

i agree that when mcmanus is back under the assumption doogs is retiring at the end of the year that vuna makes the shift into the centres imagine

1. gidley
2. uate
3.sau
4.vuna
5.mcmanus
a dream backline right there
