Cooper Vuna signs with Melbourne Rebels

Vuna has really come alone at the Knights. His confidence has been steadily growing and he's become a better player for it. I will be the first to say that you should look out for your family first, but considering what the Knights have done for him I thought he would've repaid them for their efforts. If the Knights recruitment didn't make him an offer because of thie whole "marquee player" nonsense then we've wasted even more of our recruitment money on Onslow. I don't like that Vuna is leaving but ultimately we're the ones who seem to have let him down.
 
This year's recruitment has hit a new low I have to say. We've had ages now to replace Wicks and Houston and nothing's happened. Anyone would have been better than nothing, to at least add some depth to our forward pack or halves. We didn't make a play at Tim Smith which was a shocking move. We seem to have made little effort to keep our best off-contract player at the club.

We're at a disadvantage to other clubs being so far under the cap, no wonder we're going like we are.

Whats the deal with this Onslow guy? Isnt he supposed to be one of the best recruitment men in the game? Isnt that why we paid him to move from the Dogs to us? WTF has he done beside waste a lot of valuble time and money?
 
This is CONFIRMED.

There was a snippet in the Sunday Tele today.. confirming what K4P said. That he put pen to paper yesterday.

"It's disappointing, for sure", Stone said.

" We've tried to extend his contract several times since late last season, but Cooper was happy to just back himself; I guess now we know why."
 
I wouldnt blame the Knights to much for this the offer from the rebels was probly to good to refuse.And one Cooper knew the Knights couldnt or wouldnt be able to match.
 
I just heard them say it on the radio so it is definitely confirmed.

The fact that Stonr said we have been trying to keep him since last year tells me he was always going to test himself and do what's best for his family.

Union doesn't only have big money... It's got travel oppurtunity.

It would be tempting for any player of his calibre.
 
Well, I'm glad the Knights at least tried to extend his contract. It is a crying shame that he is definetly leaving the Knights, but I say if he is not going to show us any loyalty, when Jimmy Mac gets back form injury, Vuna can play for the Centurions for all I care. Cya Coops.
 
Now that i know that we offered him an extension, i think he can play for the centurions. He looked like he loved newcastle and the supporters, but obviously hes just chasin the $$$$.
 
You only play footy for 10-15 years of your life. Vuna has a young family and obviously if hes going to go out there and try something new and if money is a factor then so be it. If a new company wanted you to work for them on triple the amount of money you are on now it'd be dumb of you not to go.

I wish him all the best in union, he definetly had talent and it frees up some money so hopefully we'll be able to sign a quality half or possibily a front-rower.
 
I wonder if Stone had any idea he was flying to Melbourne and moving on.

His responses to Vuna movng on seems to be a suprise to him.
 
He was just starting to become one of my favourite Knights. He always always gives 100% and I love how his fearless in hit ups. Not happy..:confused:
 
very disappointing, not anyone's fault, its why we have a salary cap people, its why the storm cheated... gonna miss him, top bloke sold him a nintendo wii last year! this does give us more $ but can we use it????

so have to have a highlights package of all his big returns and tries!!! i love the try against the tigers when he kicked for himself, was awesome!
 
That's a shame, but what can you do? The Knights need to try harder to keep star players...
