It can’t be a good sign if a player decides to leave for less money, it doesn’t sound like he has a great relationship with AOB. Rumours with Klemmer unhappy and wanting out may signal bigger issues.

Here is the thing. Watson is delusional. So much so that he signed that one year deal, thinking he’d earn a massive pay day with us. Not the case, he’s a great clubman that goes ok.
He’s even more delusional because he has signed 2 years with the Roosters giving him his best chance to showcase his worth to land an even bigger deal elsewhere. I honestly think Watson believes he is a far better player than what he actually is.

Haha fark I really should have put that into a better context. What I'm meaning is nobody is willing to play football like the men of old, chancing their arms etc. It's not rugged anymore, maybe that's the word I was after. Long time lurker here (finally got the account set up). What we'll never know is if your golden 'men of old' would have ever stood a chance against current players. Wayne Pearce for example was second row (arguably quite good) & 5ft11/89kg. Mitch is 6ft & 91kg & would get demolished in the the second row...
To the Connor Watson point, there is every chance that the Knights pulled their offer after Connor didn't respond to the club on the revised offer we made. Leaving Connor no choice but to accept a cheaper, shorter deal. All speculation, but I'd support a player who wants to wear the jersey over one who doesn't any day.

my issue with the whole thing is "he signed for less to get away" articles, Nick Politis and his endless supply of 3rd party deals would have easily surpassed or at least matched the Knights bid (and Connor would have preferred less years backing him self into an upgraded deal
onward and upward use the money saved to upgrade elsewhere

Bottom line players are mercenaries and will always chase either the money or to be with a Club with a premiership in the offering. Many great players have finished careers with no premiership ring.

And that's professional sport. The 'good old days' where 'tough guys' are playing for the love of the game while they work another job are over. Now, it's a very lucrative business where the best athletes run the show. If anything, I think Watson is closer to one of those 'playing for the love of the game' than most if he's going somewhere else for less money but more success rather than sitting around here getting a fat contract.
He's the first guy of the rebuild really to lose faith in the cause. We wanna be kicking into gear within the next year or two otherwise a lot of other guys might start losing faith too.
True to an extent. Wayne Pearce and another small backrower Steve Folkes probably wouldn't get a look in, in the modern game with coaches obsessed with the giant pacific islander build. I'd bet my house those two would still fold in half the Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Payne Haas of the modern game
