Confirmed: Knights sign Beau Scott for 4 years

Should be a thread who would you like the knights to sign with a poll hahaha

Signings so early in the season are annoying! lol

Im indifferent, Sure hes a good playing but signing him when we have plenty of talent in the 2nd row just confuses me.

General consensus is that he's being signed so House or Costigan can jump to prop. Real reason? Nobody really knows what's going on in Bennett's mind.

I just hope the younger players like Edwards get huge extensions now .So we do not pay overs in three years, I say bring on the four year extensions

I'm all for the signing but I really question why it was announced tonight? Like why not hold off a month... the deal has been done and we really need to concentrate on first month of football.

It's a little annoying, but I'm not totally complaining.

Four year extensions are ridiculous for players like Edwards who haven't established themselves at the top level yet.

True but we need to sign the top players for long contracts now then pay 300k in two years

Sign for three-fours years now at 100-200k '' Edwards''

O Donnell and the like at 100-125 k for two years -three could be a good move

Kyle O'Donnell is overated as far as I've seen. He has done nothing in reserves except drop the ball.

Roger, without sounding too harsh. Throwing silly amounts of money around on here in posts is just pointless.

We seem to be getting a lot of blokes on longer contracts as of late.

This buy was totally out of left field though - Seems to be a position we have easily covered in regards to depth.

How good is it to have signed 3 current Australian internationals in the space of a year & a half though?

Very unexpected signing but i like it. Could very well mean one of the starting squad is demoted or left to find another club but i'm ok with that. Guess it depends on where he plays. If they bring him into the backrow, it'll probably mean Costigan to prop, goodbye Tui or goodbye Taia or Costigan (hopefully Costigan). Bennett would be silly to get rid of Houston or move him to prop.

On the otherhand if he comes into the centres, likely Wes demoted to reserves and either wes or Sau left to find another club. Be interesting to see, but with a happy wait with this year shaping up.

They really need to bring in a trade window though.

Werent you the one a couple of days ago saying the team had no hope after one game?

Sure was but was has that got to do with this ? You've lost me.

I don't like it at all, the bloke will be 29 next year, stupid.

Marshall is 28, Thurston is 29 as is Cameron Smith and Billy Slater. Danny Buderus is 34, what's your point? Age is no barrier.

Scott has played 133 games in his career. Jarrod Mullen is 5 years younger and only 4 games behind that. Scott is a late bloomer, and a good one at that. The level of fitness our guru's put forward shouldn't make age any sort of factor.

He will be 33 by the end of the contract, look at all the over 30's running around. They've still got it.

It's a great signing really, we have taken quality off the Dragons in Boyd, McKinnon and now Scott.

Old management, we would still be chilling with Ciraldo and co.

So is Scott worth the $375k, the figure that's been said, at 28 years of age & most likely having played his best years at the Dragons? What do we think people?

I think he's a good signing, but maybe not so much for $375k. It's only the rumoured amount anyway though.

Yes we have depth in the second row but this is a quality representative signing... When a player like this comes up you have to do all you can to try land him, we need help here, example the last 3 grand final winning team 2nd rows:

2011
Watmough
T-Rex
Stewart

2010:
Creagh
Scott
Jeremy Smith

2009:
Blair
Hoffman
Johnson

Now personally couldn't see this anywhere near the quality above:

Houston
Taia
Costigan

But next year make it

Houston
Scott
McKinnon

And there's definately a standard in their class, expecting nev to move to prop and Zeb off the bench to help, well my opinion anyway see how this goes in 2013...

It's absolutely pathetic how quick the Dragons fans have turned on Bennett. He brought them 2 minor premierships & a premiership & now they hate his guts.

I don't know if it has been mentioned in previous posts, but does anyone think he has been signed to replace Tahu?

I'm very happy with this signing! Up there with one of our best ever and certainly as good if not better than anything we have in the backrow imo!

He's only 25 too not 28 :-)

How come you don't like the idea of Costigan at prop, like in 2010? Houston is a great second-rower/lock for us.

That was drastic measures for the Dragons, because their usual props were injured. If we are talking a permanent move, then I think Houston is much more suited. I've always been a fan of him playing prop.
