Toohey confirmed that amount includes Clydesdale's money and Lowrie was only 2nd tier.

I get the feeling Brown still wants Roby plus one of two others. If Jimmy retires he should be able to do that.

Hearing Jimmy has already pulled the pin. He'll be a bigger loss for us than some people on here seem to think.

McManus out makes our back line look 10 X worse. We lose Uate then it looks even more worse IMO. I'm not sure we will let go of him until we either have a replacement or someone pays minimum 350k
 
Personally I have changed my thinking and am actually looking forward to Mullo and Hodkinson playing together and Mullo just being able to run the ball when he wants , Not having to run the team and the kicking game if Hodkinson does all this then I think this could be Mullo's year and to be honest I would like to see that happen for him and the team ....Oh and us .

I'm also looking forward to watching Stockwell next season he was our best forward at the start of last season and I think he will impress again .
I'm not as worried as some about our pack next year 1 more big forward would be good but by all reports Paea has been playing well and he looks to have legs like tree stumps , Mataora held his own last year and will be better this season .
Love him or hate him Snowden will be there , cant wait to see Rochow rip in were always better when he is on the field. Korbin will be better this season too as he is still learning .
Tariq could be better and can be , Smith is only here 1 more season and he may be an older player but he still hits hard and he was never our problem in defence . We all know how good Tapine is going to be although I wouldn't mind seeing him play center and see how he goes and there are big raps on Bhana.

If the twins can step up next season then we could be ok , get Tolman or a big bopper and I would say top 8 next year . All I want for XMAS is 1 big mean , nasty , well behaved off the field monster ...is that too much to ask for ...

Amazing that some are hoping he retires.

I mean sure, if we had a gun replacement ... but we have Ross and Chanel.
 
McManus is a consistent performer but he hasn't done much for us in the last couple of years. He has lost a bulk of his pace and I can't remember the last time he scored from a bomb to his wing (this may be through no fault of his own though). His strongest asset would be his runs early in the set and quick pay the balls, but he only makes 6 or so metres average per run. I think his position could be easily fielded by one of our younger wingers who could do just as good as a job albeit with a few more errors in their game. Also, depending on when he last resigned he could be on somewhat decent money being an origin winger and all.

Not sure they're happy about him retiring more then happy we get to free up $$$ for hopefully a good signing like Roby or a frf. But yeah

Agreed with @josh2010, McManus is done, he's got severe injury concerns and really hasn't been that great for a while now. Safe wingers imo just don't cut it anymore. I don't even know how safe he is anymore these days actually. He's probably on 450k too, his job can be done for half that price by someone else and just hope one of these young outsides takes it beyond his level and onto the next level. Sione and Chanel on the wings were more effective in 7 games than McManus has been for some time.

If Jimmy Mac is on 450k then whoever manages your contract negotiations needs to be shot. 300k at the max is his worth throughout his career imo.
 
If that $450k is accurate, it is just unbelievable we spend a million a year on two wingers with Uate's $550k.

300k? We were paying more than that for Neville Costigan. It's the Knights. The club paying 500k for Uate, 450k for Roberts. With McManus playing Origin when he re-signed I really wouldn't be surprised. I've read that it was a "lucrative" deal...

The last one funnily enough was either this year or last year in City v Country Origin, when surrounded by halves that actually knew how to set up their winger, being in successful teams. It was a shock at the time too because it was the first time I saw McManus do that in a long time, I just assumed it was because he couldn't jump on the left wing, all his jumping tries were on the right.
