Was a beast for us in 2009 and 2011. Shame his career has ended this way at the Knights but certainly a club man that many of the players will miss having around. All the best Houso!
So does this make Jeremy Smith our only player who's in the 30+ age bracket now?
Its a giant ****take if we don't get atleast 2 genuine first graders before kick off, preferably a center and a prop.
I remember a few years ago when we had a pile of depth, it seemed like such a waste having so many reserve players on NRL priced contracts without playing very much NRL. At that stage I said that we really should get rid of all those players who we were paying decent contracts to just be depth players and we should rely on our young players and cheaper players for our depth and that's what seems to be happening now. I believe we should be going all out to get our top say 18 at it's very best it can be and when injury strikes then give the young players their shot to step up. I think we have some really good young players who may seem like nobodies now but will step up when we need them. We have depth, our juniors are our depth and I'm fine with that. Focus on bringing some high quality players here first, quality over quantity. Brown is the guy to back the young players all the way and he's proven to have great success with it. Agree though, surely we have some bigger named players lined up.
Agree mate, but maybe all out on a couple more than 18 players.
Yeah possibly, I just think we should put everything we have in making the starting team as strong as possible and make sure we have quality young players ready to go when needed instead of spending a large chunk of salary cap on a dozen fringe players who we may not need through the year. I'd be happy to risk spending majority of the cap on our top 18 or so and then using young players who are not only cheap but are eager, exciting and potentially can be stars for us when they're called upon.
