I'm gonna start PAPAWN ... People Against People Against Wes Naiqama.

He's always been a good player for us imo, but this year he's been sensational!!!

He used to be mistake prone in dangerous situations, which was his biggest flaw.

It's gotten a lot better, and he's running it a lot harder this year. I'm proud of ol' Wes, how far has he cmoe. How much has he grown.

yeah I used to hate it when the high ball would be kicked to him!!!

but he has come along leaps and bounds he has some safer hands now...

The only fault I could find against Wes whilst he has been with us is he used to get a bit lazy in defence and let through a couple of easy tries. He has had plenty of tests this season in defence and under the high ball and has only stuffed up once which was yesterday, no fullback in the competition IMO would of taken that catch!

His defence has been brilliant too, he has saved Uate's *** about 3 or 4 times already whilst he was in the centres.

I still don't think you can class that as a stuff up, had he not been taken out (accidental or not) he takes that ball cleanly. He is looking awesome and with degois back we will look even better!
Naiqama is still to really excel coming off the bench, which he was doing all last year. He's starting this year coz of injuries ... how does this prove Stone's coaching nous exactly?
I think you misunderstood me James or i didnt make myself clear.:fist:

I was meaning that alot of people were bagging both Stone and Wes last year. I think its good that Stoneys kept faith in players who he sees something in. Wes did start cos of MacDougall's unavailability (not injury) but Stone could have easily gone with a full time centre in Lulia (unless he was injured at the start of the season).

He showed faith and Wes has gotten back to his best.

Man it's gonna be hard dropping Wes when everyone comes back. I really don't like Gidley at 6 atm, i wanna see him at 1 when Henry comes back, we need Mullo & Henry to combine as a halves pairing for as many games as possible if we want them together long term. Then you've got Sa'u & MacDougall in the centres who are both internationals. Then you look to the 14, but once Costigan is back, Hilder goes straight back to 14. So i'm finding it hard to fit him in. He is really unlucky that way. I hope he keeps his spot in the team somehow.

Tbh, I'd rather have Hilder at 14 to replace the player coming off at lock, unless he's named there already. He seems to suit better at the lock position, don't get me wrong he's a great hooker but it seems more suitable with him at 13 or 14.

He is looking tired the past 2 games against Manly & St. George, when DeGois comes back I am sure he'll either be starting at lock or at 14.

I agree.

Hilder looked a bit sluggish out of dummy half yesterday, even at the start of the game. Was pretty pleased with him though, 43 tackles and 120m is exceptional!

Ohhhh, that could open a can of worms haha. He did not look himself on the weekend but, did he ?

yeah Im hoping I dont get any hate from that remark...but really the guy is past his "best" dont get me wrong he is still a great player and can mix it with the best in the game...but it's time to blood the new breed of guys, the guys that are going t o take us into the next 5 years...but still respect for the old maddog!!!

Agreed.

He's exceptional with his tackles and meters gained but he needs to be consistent out of Hooker.

I don't think so, when De Gois is back, he'll do the job & Hilder can finish it off with 20 minutes to go. Once Adams is fully fit i don't think there is any need for Hilder to work on his dummy-half work. He is solid enough, doesn't need to improve.

MacDougall always starts the season a bit slowly ... numbskulls on here say it's time for him to retire, Uate doesn't see any ball outside him, etc etc.

Then by the end of the season they all want him to sign up for another year and Uate to be playing outside him coz he gives the best quality ball.

Seen it like three years in a row now.

Exactly right!

Last year was a classic example, started off hurt and a bit slow but by the end of last season he was on fire!
