Adam O'Brien discussion

I like that he has a review after each year and does his best to fix whatever is wrong.
After last season they decided to totally overhaul the training and medical staff. I don’t know if that fixed everything, but it made some difference with some players at least.
I think his method of trying to address issues every year is working better than Browns slash and burn strategy, which was an interesting experiment, but maybe not completely successful.
 
Agree Jojo. I think starting Leo over Jsaf was a mistake. Obviously trying to keep our pack strength even over the game, but needed the saf double barrel to get more ahead. Only Friz had impact all game.

In my opinion, we need a Saf on the field at all times, just as AOB said he likes it also. But maybe Jacob was the wrong one was on the bench, Jacob has more game time and has started more games this year. Leo or Sue can take the other prop position, probably Sue due to experience but still believe we need a Saf start and one benched.
 
See no reason why we can’t start both Safs for 15-20 mins then rest one and continue rotation so that both play 50-60mins with only about 20mins when both off meaning bench props play about 50-60 between them and can go hard while on along with having break at half time
 
It’s time to sack AOB. He is a decent guy but our side is not getting better.

Surely we can find another coach who can get us to perform better than we currently are.

Who out there is a better coach though, and who is not already under contract? I don't disagree that a change is needed, but I'm not convinced there is a stud candidate available who is interested to coach this team. My guess is Wests feel the same right now.
 
I can think of at least a few coaches who would do a better job than AOB. Hasler, Flanagan, Morris and Madge would improve the side more than AOB.

It just isn't working out with AOB and not many players have improved under him.

I would be happy to for Morris to be appointed as the new coach, he has got good results and he is a local.

Developing juniors was his strength while at Cronulla which would be a good fit for us too.

It’s not AOB’s strongpoint at all, he never really brings any players through from lower grades. I don’t think he’s really a good fit for our club from that point of view.
 
Yep and if they just wait for AOB’s contract to run down, I’m sure they’re confident Morris and Flanagan will still be available. Morris is nowhere near the top of the tree when it comes to hyped assistants anymore, and if Flanagan isn’t getting the Dragons job it means no one is going to touch him any time soon. It is what it is.

But head coach is a vital position, we need success to help retain and attract players and to give the fans and sponsors hope that we can compete for a premiership sometime soon.
 
Believe Obi has one more year, 2024, to go on contract, I think he will see it out despite his failures due as much to cost as anything and a lack of suitable replacement.

Just seems to be the same outcome every year under him, win loss record
Look great one week and show what we could do...next week its like we could well end up last omg
 
He’s mentioned in a few pressers now. “We are still learning”. Well it’s been 3 years of learning! 😂 But it must be frustrating for him. The players have to take responsibility also.
