2026 Recruitment And Retention

Someone check on Les.

Jokes aside we're never going to be anything other than an also ran if we can't find a way to keep our good players and ex-juniors would prefer to backups elsewhere.
He’s in the best system in the comp. Not like he decided to stay at Tigers or something.

I hope Hughes re-signs past 2026, he comes knocking on our door for a “loan” so he can play first grade and we tell him to get on his bike.

Enjoy reserves, Jonah 😂
He'll know bridges are burned here. He'll get a start at some other club though in a league currently suffering a shortage of quality halves.

From what I saw, Wishart absolutely killed it as a halfback the couple times I saw him play this year. I understand he’s not versatile, but there’s no guarantee he’s even next halfback if Hughes were to leave

“Enjoy reserves” isn’t much of a burn when he’s literally choosing reserves and less money over being the starting halfback here. There’s a clear loser in this situation and it’s not Pezet. Guess he hasn’t heard about the great culture that’s being built here.
Don’t start with this culture stuff again 😜

I mean he’s a clear loser if Hughes stays at storm. Which I would say is extremely likely - he will be winning comps/in grand finals every year almost. And will be paid marquee money in the best system.

I’ll play captain hindsight too, but it was a red flag to me he didn’t sign November 1. If your hometown club is trying to woo you and you have one of the worst pathways to first grade at your current club and you want to stay. I wish he wanted to come but you need buy in from the guy your investing millions in and he never really showed it.
