2025 Recruitment And Retention

Makes sense, not signed, those tapped not going anywhere so he must look after himself.
Sad to see outright local junior, Nabiac, going while we are keeping the likes of Elliott, Hetherington and Brailey
They’re clearing the decks to increase depth. Peter O’ Sullivan hasn’t been brought in to add to our squad his been brought into the club to rebuild it.

If we are to take that next step as a club we need to reset our squad. I don’t believe it’s a cap issue at all I think it’s the Club trying to move blokes on to get better players in.

Fritz won’t or gags won’t be cut people. No way would you move friz on

Roosters have underperformed for a quite a few years given the talent they've had in their team. I think a team like Storm beat them easily come finals time. Too erratic, and some bad errors from experienced players in that team.
And too many big egos and players who won’t pass the ball, even in really good try scoring positions.

Crokes is value for money as a cheap middle forward, but we do have Zeb, Paul Bryan and maybe Jaxson Rahme who might do the same job for the same or less money next year.
Paul Bryan is a very similar player to Crokes IMO.

Knights talk starts at 22:04 but there’s not much substance beyond what’s in that quote.

Predicts a lot of movement in the next few months but nothing specific
Blokes who have been tapped on the shoulder just the tip of the iceberg
Read says he doesn’t think Knights would be overly upset if DSaf chooses to stay
Leo apparently on just over $300k next year, one of them predicts he could sign for $550-$600k and says getting that done is one of the reasons they're trying to move others on

Matt Crocker about to sign with the dragons or west tigers
He's very good mates with Ponga - so that's not good.

Sounds like we're undergoing a wholesale clean out being professionally managed to appear as 'a few senior players being asked to move on'

The club fumbled the ball badly by not fuxking the coach off a season or two ago. Fools. It was only ever going to end up here, was only a question of how soon and how bad it would get. I guess we now wait for the latter outcome

I don’t really follow the logical link between not moving the coach on & having a bloated salary cap requiring us to move players on.

All this talk of big movement is great but we've seen there's not a great deal of interest from other clubs in taking on the bloated contracts
We've had a grand success rate of absolutely nobody leaving lol. I think they're going to be pretty restricted, unfortunately none of the players who have been mentioned seem keen to leave, so we'll be waiting for contracts to expire. Quite weird, usually when a player is told they're free to leave they go looking for a club that actually wants them.

Not overly concerned about there not being much movement on those who have been tapped on the shoulder.

Clubs only really started dropping out of contention last weekend outside the Tigers, Eels, and Rabbitohs - with the Eels/Rabbitohs both changing head coaches. Every side that is still in contention will 1) Be overwhelmingly focused on a potential finals run and 2) Recruitment decisions made on certain players will be impacted by performances leading into their potential finals run.

This month or so is a dead spot every season in terms of recruitment, as the regular season winds up things will start to move on that front.
