The only thing Ponga needs to win a comp is a half decent team around him and good attacking systems.

He needs perhaps as little as a Joey or a Thurston, maybe less. The guy is worth 12-18 points a game every game of the finals in the right team.

My understanding is DSaf is contracted to Knights for 2025-26 for about $850K a season if he signs elsewhere for no matter what, let’s say $600k a season he will be paid the balance of $250k by Knights so he will be fully paid for the next two seasons. What he does and gets for 2027 onwards is between him and whoever he signs with

Worth noting that certain key juniors eg Cody Hopwood and Connor Votano have been locked down to four year commitments at the same time that certain older players have been tapped on the shoulder. Meanwhile the only player Peter O’Sullivan has made a comment about trying to pursue is young Pezet, who besides being formerly our junior, is the most talented half currently stuck behind an established pair. It’s pretty clear what Peter thinks the problem with the squad is and what we need to do to fix it.

It makes sense to me. We’ve got plenty of guys with 50, 100+ games experience, and a few with over 200. How much experience do you need? Is a lack of experience the thing which holds us back against better teams, or a lack of, you know… talent? Athleticism? Dynamism?

There must be changes to how the team is coached, their defence, attack and fitness.
We need our team to have a steel edge.

Roosters have underperformed for a quite a few years given the talent they've had in their team. I think a team like Storm beat them easily come finals time. Too erratic, and some bad errors from experienced players in that team.

Even if he's on the oft rumoured $1.4 million, it's about 12% of the cap.
