2025 Recruitment And Retention

I genuinely hope you are right but I don’t think they will let him go early. The RPLA and the NRL aren’t going to care - he is under contract so for them to get involved would also set a dangerous precedent.
But it happened when Jo Tapine was at the Knights and was signed by Canberra for the next season.
That is exactly what happened!

Tapine threatened legal action after being told he wouldn’t be considered for first grade and would be training by himself all season. That’s why the RLPA got involved there. Can’t see Melbourne doing that to Pezet.

FWIW as of yesterday the Telegraph was saying the Pezet/Storm meeting was slated for this weekend.

The Storm will have RLPA, The NRL, the players family, the media and their own community to deal with if they want to prevent a 21 year old 4th string half from beginning an inevitable start as a senior player on greater than a **** weak minimum wage. Im telling you, there's almost no chance they even attempt to hold him.

They'll pretend for a moment to perform the usual theatrics. And then he'll be with us within a couple weeks of signing
Not much any of them can say. He is contracted to the Storm. Same as when we signed Ponga. You just have to suck it up

Just a reminder that we should not be making allegations of drug use or anything like that on here. We’ve seen legal action against people for doing stuff like this just a month or two ago. Cmon people, think before posting!

Daily Telegraph has Knights, Manly and Roosters as the teams to drop out of the 8 next season.

We will definitely be flying under the radar, with a lot of teams gaining new recruits/coach. We haven’t recruited heavy, but that doesn’t mean we can’t improve. Some teams will be overhyped heading into next season.

The optimist in me says that with minimal personnel changes we’ll have more cohesion and a better chance of making finals. The realist in me says it’s pretty much all about how many games Ponga plays. 😅

Newcastle is definitely a much better place to live. A nice city to live in, friendly people with a laid back lifestyle, easy to get around, great beaches everywhere, exceptional wineries, good place for children.

Canberra’s climate goes from very cold in Winter to very hot in Summer and it does not have any beaches. I have never lived there, so I don’t know what it is like to live there.
I worked there for a year and you’ve never met everything from the worst of the worst howzos to the richest bunch of weasels and they all have one thing in common, a criminally overrated sense of self importance. It’s expensive, ugly and full of w***ers. Plus very cold and super hot as you say

Teams like the Broncos. I don't think I've seen a team so overhyped in a long time..

Just some consistency in the team we put out.

Settle on our halves. We should be in a position to do this. IMO, nobody is owed anything. We must pick the best combo and stick. I don’t care who, if Hastings trains the house down and is back at his best, great. If Pryce trains the house down, great. If we stick with Cogger and Crossland, so be it. If we jag Pezet early, great.

Our backline should be almost set, with Ponga, Sharpe, Best, Marz and Gags. Great if any recruits are better than those incumbent.

Our pack looks decent. Hopefully Lucas and Leo kick on next year.

Our base seems solid. Just depends what creativity we can get. If it’s just Ponga, we need him to stay fit, he makes up for a lack of halves creativity. But I’m also more confident with what Sharpe brings to FB if Ponga is out.

Overall, I’m happy to be touted to miss out on the 8. Underdog suits us. Preferably we are pushing for a top 4 come the last few rounds when we compete with other contenders. Can really work against us or for us with a few “4 point” games in the run home.

I've been there a few times for work. I wouldn't live there. It has no personality, no soul, no vibe. Boring as bat****, sh!t climate. Apologies to any Ken Berrens amongst us 🙏

I went there for a Knights game in 2011 and thought it was really cool. But maybe I was lucky, because we got beautiful weather, the Knights won 22-12 (which I think was just our second or third win there at the time) and we were there for the ANZAC celebrations/dawn ceremony which were very moving.

The War Memorial is very cool. I'm glad you have fond memories of Canberra.
