2025 Recruitment And Retention

I'd have thought the first people he meets are the least likely
Why would he want to leave to join any of those clubs

Raiders missed the 8 last year not guaranteed at all to make the finals.

Parramatta missed finals two years in a row not guaranteed to make finals

Bulldogs one finals series in a long time yes they did well but not guaranteed to go as well next year.

Us made finals two years in a row and we are a team on the up also.

He and the misso have family there… he’d also fit straight in being an ex-knight.

I don’t know for this one

They look like a team on the up, with a great up and coming coach. Also seemingly have the Roosters accountant working behind the scenes for a side project.

A team that shows signs of brilliance among looking like they’ve no idea as their bread and butter game plan. Aside from one good run, we’ve been lucky to see finals football. No halves to guide the team at this point in time.

Doesn’t sound great for us at this point in time, it only takes one or two good signings, but we need to make them first to be attractive.

Raiders are more of a threat to sign Leo than the Bulldogs. Papalii will probably retire at the end of next season.

Even though Canberra have 100 front rowers in their side already.

Kinda getting over Leo and the way the media are making out as though he is a marquee prop.

He's decent but not that good yet.

If he doesn't want to be here like say the way Lucas wants to be a knight he can go....

If he is trying to get a higher offer from the knights then im ok with it, just sign already and be done with it.

Surely his manager would have already fielded offers from other teams and what they would offer so I don't really get this meeting with other clubs.

And the drama rolls on.
Some players enjoy the moment of fame and draw it out.
Sign somewhere and be done with it.
If Leo doesn’t want to be here, we are better off without him, particularly how the Upton saga has played out.
Knights fans are being treated like mugs at the moment.

Worst rule in rugby league I reckon. Only sport I can think of where players sign 12 months in advance.
Apparently the NRL try and change it every cycle but it’s something the RLPA won’t budge on. It is mind boggling they ever agreed to it in the first place, it’s something i absolutely hate.

100%.I'm sure the Knights offer his competitive . If we didn't give him the opportunity he would prob be still stuck in Canberra reserve grade . I'm getting over him I honestly don't think he progressed much last year at all , very good but certainly not JFH quality yet . I like how Crossland & Lucas just signed no prob . At least look like you want to play for the Knights Leo!!

Leo has done nothing but say he will test the open market, probably on the advice of his manager. I'm sure the knights will be right in the reckoning when decision day comes. As for the constant speculation, none of that is Leo's doing, it is just the soap opera media we have to put up with as nrl supporters.

Yeah the facts we know are these:
- The club made Leo an offer. He declined it and said he wanted to test his value after November 1.
- The club made a revised pitch to try to stop him from testing his value, he said no to that, and maintained that he wanted to talk to other clubs.
- Everything on this front was put on hold until after the Pacific Championship & the holiday he’d planned with his missus for after the end of the Pac Champs.
- He’s back now and is having the meetings with other clubs he has always said he was going to have.

That’s it. Four news stories worth of “BREAKING NEWS” developments at most.

That it’s been spun out into a “constant circus” that we’re all “sick of” isn’t really Leo’s doing. He doesn’t draw a salary from News Corp. It’s weird to put all the blame at his door, as far as I can tell he and his agent have been pretty transparent about his intentions, and very little has actually even happened. The notion that such a thing as a “Leo Thompson contract saga” even exists is totally the result of a yellow press who’s filling column inches with sensationalist gossip whether or not anything has even happened.

Yes HarVeeGee13, you are right I guess.
But will be pleased when it is done and the media cart can move on to someone else.

It's hilarious would he be a top 10 prop yet?

AFB
JFH
LEOTA
HAAS
TAPINE

Isn't even close to these guys.

COLLINS
BARNETT
KAMIKAMICA
PASEKA
FOTUAIKA

I could probably think of another 5-10 who are ahead of him ATM.

Are all well ahead him, his work rate is bog average, what he does, he does well and potentially he can get to a top 10 prop but there is no way he is ever going to be as good as any of the top 5.

Tapine as well, but we can blame Clint Newton on that one.
I sincerely hope the club doesn't go above $600k and potentially that is a $150k over.

It was the right thing to get rid of Barnett at the time, but FML it's a hard watch the fact he was in the top 5 props of the game this year.
