2025 Recruitment And Retention

Why would dragons make a play for Hastings? He's absolute trash and shows seeing there is no interest in him anywhere.
Those seem to be 2 of the parameters of a Flanno signing. If Hastings was 5 years older he’d meet another 1.

Cronulla got Hohepa Puru from Riders. Damn they have done some GOOD recruitment over the last few years.
They're in some trouble for 26' with 5 of their best players off contract at the same time. AFB will cost them perhaps two of those players.

Kennedy apparently the first casualty

So, does anyone know what's happening with Paul Bryan?
After missing all of 2023 with injury, he played 18 games of reserve grade in 2024 and i think it's fair to say he didn't set the world n fire, averaging 28 fantasy points in 2024.
From all reports, he did everything he needed to do to rehab from his knee reconstruction and deserved his top 30 contract for 2025, but I see he isn't in the early pre-season group this year.
He might just be taking a well deserved holiday after how much training he has had to do to get back to the field in 2024, or maybe he has had the POS tap on the shoulder and is "exploring his options".

Still not convinced he’s actually under contract for next year (think it might be an error on the NRL site) but it’s only non-top 30 players from this past season in the current training group, which wouldn’t include him anyway. Hopwood is the only exception to that but was upgraded mid year which may affect how much time he’s required to take off. Rest were all outside the top 30, including Arthur, Su’a & McCarthy despite playing first grade.

Paul Bryan is still showing on the Knights website as being under contract for 2025.

We will have to wait and see what is happening with him.

Just reading Storm denied Pezet a chance to go on loan for next year with a club, likely us.

Storm said no, but could for 2026 if Pezet signs long term for Storm.

Might work for us if Pezet now starts working towards a release instead of loan.

Or he just signs with us for 2026 onwards.

Storm have played that well... now they just tell him he's not getting an early release for 2025, to encourage him to re-sign another couple of years.

Pezet needs to realise that the Storm are not acting in his best interests, sign with us for 2026 and then ask for a release for 2025.

Same with us with Leo if he signs elsewhere for 2026 so bet it but 2025 his with us unless it is to our benefit, both us and storm respectively have them on cut price deals.
Leo’s situation is different. He can obtain an immediate upgrade by resigning with us and he is playing first grade whereas Pezet isn’t a regular first grader and may not be a regular first grader for years to come.

He can sign with us for 2026 and by doing that let them know he is not happy with the way he is being treated.
Melbourne haven't done anything wrong by him. He's playing to the contract he signed. The fact that he may get better opportunities and money elsewhere is not mistreatment. Imagine the uproar if we released Dom a year early because he felt he'd been hard done by.
