2024 Season

If the NRL didn't care at all, they would not have turned up to test Ponga and Mann. Then there is the conspiracy theory that the NRL has no interest in giving the game a black eye, so in turn, isn't interested in catching them for rec drugs, or for salary cap rorting.

If they wanted to the NRL could easily take steps to ensure the game doesn't suffer such embarrasment. Simply advise the team ahead of time that their player will be tested on this date for rec drugs, and there you have it, clean.

Salary cap wise, the NRL have never caught anybody rorting the cap, all instances have been whistleblowers etc giving the NRL no choice. Sure, the NRL registers the 3rd parties, but according to them, all contracts are 100% above board until proven otherwise, never mind the fact that said player signed with the club, and right at that very moment a business has decided to enlist their services, player after player after player.

Maloney said on national TV, when asked what was holding up his contract, straight to camera said oh, I think we are just waiting on some third parties. NRL....crickets!

The NRL doesn't want to catch anybody. Neither does the AFL for that matter, there are billions of dollars at stake.

You have to wonder how the Eels are running last when you see them play like this.
I feel like they spent a bunch of weeks earlier in the year waiting for Moses to come back, then kept struggling because one player can’t fix everything if guys aren’t putting in, and it’s only since they lost him again for the rest of the season that they’ve aimed up a bit. Haven’t exactly been destroying everyone like they are the Dragons today but I think they’ve been more competitive.
