2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Reports we've signed Bevan French for the 2023 season, unlikely to be on any coin because he's wanted to get back to Australia for some time but I struggle to see the point in this a bit.

Possibly seen as a Hoy replacement/insurance for Hodgson having another injury riddled season.
Very good fullback and winger in the SL he’s just a level above everyone else, he literally scored 7 tries in 60 minutes a few weeks back.

47 games for Eels and 35 tries… NRL

49 games for Wigan and 42 tries… SL

Great try scorer and a good replacement for Lee.

Straight swap I have no issues if he has got his D in order could go okay.

Yeah excellent finisher but just offers nothing in terms yardage so would prefer Hunt starting on the wing.

Has the ability to ballplay and support at fullback in attack so I probably see that as his best position in the NRL, not a bad signing by any means but I wouldn't have him pencilled in as first 17 player just yet.

Jai Field set up most of French's tries that day and scored a couple himself, I was left thinking more about him as an option after seeing the highlights of the match.

A bit of good fortune really. French was always a bit soft and lazy at Parra. We tried to get Tesi Niu on pretty decent coin last year, and this year Tesi showed himself to be softer and lazier than French, and stupid to boot.

You assume he will play wing and maybe he will but did he score those 7 try's playing wing or f/b ..

No doubt playing for cheap here. Good depth player and can fill in at 1 when kp is inevitably injured or Hodgson is with his luck.

Not sure if it's been posted but an interesting rumour from a Daily Telegraph article on the knights.

If they’re at all concerned about looking stupid, allowing Bradman Best to lob up at a good side which could use an upgrade at left centre - let’s say, hypothetically, having him share an edge with Talakai at Cronulla - is likely the very stupidest thing they could do.
