2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

On Munster - zero chance we sign him. He’ll either stay at Melbourne or he’ll go to a Queensland based team for $1.4 million a season or more.

If I was gonna bet on which player off contract at the end of 2023 will be the main big money target of our recruitment staff (assuming said player decides to test his value at the end of this year), I’d actually be putting my wager on a different horse. Not a half, but plays a bit like one - one of Joey’s favourite players, and someone I’ve noticed Adzy referring to as a mate of his… Victor Radley.

Yeh, and imagine how much more time off the field he’d spend if wearing a Knights jersey. He gets enough wearing a Roosters jersey and that’s like having an immunity badge.
Anything above the nipple would be classed as high for us 😂

AFTER the Storm and Munster smash us next week at home, Munster will think

to harder work moving there put a line through the Knights....next 4 games STORM COWS DOGS BRONCOS..And I not sure

there's a guaranteed 2 points there now.

Did Charlie from It’s Always Sunny ghostwrite this one?

It’s literally just fan & media speculation. Some goldfish memory stuff too, like yeah he’s killing it and looks the form player in the comp atm, but the last two seasons he’s been a real bludger who hasn’t taken care of his body and has gotten by on his (admittedly prodigious) natural footy playing ability.

Everyone wants him because he possibly is the best player in the NRL at his best, but for a Storm player he’s actually pretty bloody inconsistent. A lot of class players coming off contract at the same time as him too.

A guy I would recruit right now would be Braydon Trindall from the sharks. He is not getting first grade games atm or any time soon. I thought he guided the sharks around well last year. He is dynamic...and he kicks goals. I think he could be lured away with the lure of first grade.

We don’t need another halfback. We need to shift clifford to 7 and sign a 6.

I don't know if cliff is an organiser. Not a dominant voice. But if we get this Pryce kid, he's a running 5/8 too, so, we may be forced to hope Cliff can do it.

Same goes with Milford. running 5/8 not a half.

Clifford can do it. Watch the highlights/MINI of our game against the raiders last year (rd 20) and look how well clifford and ponga combined.

Yeah at the moment he seems to be being asked to be a Luke Keary or Jack Wighton type but to me it’s not his game. To me he thrives in a complimentary role, not as an attacking weapon himself - that he does have a running threat means he can hold up defenders when taking it to the line and create space. You want Clifford linking up with Ponga as much as possible. If only there was a way for us to do that!

Trindall can play either or. I'm not seeing any out and out 5/8s out there with a similar skill set who are surplus to their clubs. And who kick goals. If we get the Pryce kiddy out of England, no need to keep looking.

Clifford’s dominant side is the left. I think we should let him play there. Also watching will pryce play, he prefers the right.

i know i used to call him 'bomber' for his ability to bomb a try scoring opportunity but man we should have kept Watson for his spark and speed out of dummy half. Randall is solid but no dynamo that's for sure.
perhaps that Jayden Hunt from saints could be an option for the pack- need a player with a bit of whack in him...
gotta do something to turn this ship around. i heard Taukeiaho is going to England...

I agree, that was our benchmark attacking performance last year. Clifford noted a mismatch on our left early and was relentless picking it over.
Clifford looks like he plays better down the left, but every single try that game had KP's fingerprints all over it.

The takeaway from watching that should be that he's by far our best and most important player, and that his resigning is a massive boon to the club. Need to build around him from here

We need to get Shane Flanagan as our coach for next year. I’m not sure how the knight will go about sacking Obrien though…
