2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

So we have 8 off contract for next year plus one spot unfilled.
Barnett leaving, Crocker Upgraded to 30.

That's 9 spots.

The only off contract player I think we should sign now is Simi.
I don't think there would be much interest for the rest besides Milford to Dolphins. So we can see what else comes up with the others.

Not much on the off contract list but J'maine Hopgood from Panthers is a good young Lock I'd like to get.
Ball plays well, I'm guessing is getting taught by Yeo. Assume he'd be cheap.
I think jack johns could be a good ball playing lock if we cant find a upgrade.

Jack Wighton is listed as having player options for the next two years.
I'd love him and Cliff as halves partners.
Very unlikely

I love the idea of that, biggest halves pairing in the comp. And I think quite similar. They are the two hardest running halves in the comp imo, and love chasing their own kicks

Watched the highlights video of will pryce again. After seeing the dom young improvement, and seeing what prtce is capable of, I think it has potential to be a master stroke.
He looks like he has the tools to become a star and if learning under joey could be anything.

Pryce very much looks like that same type of big running five-eighth as Wighton. Joey’s favourite kind of player. No surprise he’s been at the club to take a look at him.

Pryce doesn’t look quite as big as Jack but at 6 foot and 95 odd kg he’s pretty solid. Looks like he’s got some pretty nimble feet for a guy of that size, shades of Dylan Brown in how he moves.

Very surprised Wighton has two years of player options. What kind of cuck club would allow that?

Tooheys News title says we should go all in for Munster.
Very keen.
Surely Pearce + Barnett money covers Munster.

I don't get where this theory Barnett was on huge money came from either.
Who said Barnett was on huge money?
There is supposed to be big money left over this year.
Pearce was reported to be dropped down to $700k.
I'm sure Barnett was on at least $300k.
There is a lot of our players off contract for 2024.
It's do-able.

We haven't got much money tied up in the halves at all this year.

I think Munster is a bit of a crazy pipe dream. But, obviously it’s be the greatest signing coup of our generation.

If they did sign him, I doubt we could hold onto Frizell and Klemmer, one would have to go, unless they were happy to take pay cuts, which at they’re age, I doubt it. As Barry said, other youngsters would really have to step it up, but with the likes of Munster and Ponga at training each week, it may bring out the best in players, like Joey did.

Josh Jackson on the outer at the bulldogs? Will be 32 next season. Is he the type of hard nosed player we could use or is he getting too slow for the modern game?
