2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

wispers around Campbell graham leaving the bunnies, still hasn’t been offered a new contract for 2024 im a fan would be a good replacement for dom and cheaper …thoughts?

Graham is ok but nothing special imo. People say he’s the best defensive centre in the game with nothing to really back it up with. Same as Cam Murray used to have the quickest play the ball in the game apparently.

His defence has certainly improved because him and Adam Reynolds used to look like they’d never met when they’d defend 2 and 3 in a few years back. His attack is quite good though.
Don’t think he’d be worth the asking price.

Campbell Graham is under contract for 2024 already.

Aside from that, if we had any sort of chance at getting him, of course, go for it. Hard to believe he's still only 23.

Graham is great, and has another year on his contract. Bunnies aren't letting him go.

Assume the rumours are related to the potential Wighton signing. He's not a replacement for Graham, but he'd be a handy replacement for Tass, who is showing again tonight that he isn't physically up to first grade.

Tass will probably compete with Thompson and Milne for the 'terrible right winger' spot Souths always seem to have, except for that period where they had Lote.

Still reckon we should be throwing whatever we were gonna offer Dom at Mikaele Ravalawa.

I wouldn't say Randell was setting the world on fire. Sure he could make tackles but our attacked seemed mundane with him. I think the swap with Marzhew was a good one.
Swap with Marzhew has been good, but putting last year's attack on Randall is a bit harsh when the rest of the spine is Hoy, Clifford and Clune on one leg.

Randell got worse and worse as the year went on, but he was being asked to play 80 minutes every week which was crazy.

It was definitely the right decision to swap him for Marzhew, but that doesn’t prevent us going to the market for another hooker?

It's really disappointing about Brailey. I think he could have been the difference to get us over the line in some of those tight games. And obviously the cost of losing him for the rest of the season.

So the options we perceive with Crossland and whoever?
Find a second tier hooker from another club? Look at our juniors?

Can we afford another hooker with our cap? Will one come here?

Crossland is a surprisingly good fill in hooker. He can't go 80 minutes, but not many fill in hookers can, if any.
Mann has been awful.
I never saw any of the games where Elliott played some time at hooker for Canberra, but he can't be worse than Mann. He says he doesn't like playing hooker, but at this point, he owes us a bit.
Ryan Rivett was well off the pace in his short stint at hooker.
Temple Kalepo only played 42 minutes in reserves again this week, but his first stint was 35 minutes, which I think was his longest yet, so he is building up.

All I can see is 60 minutes from Crossland and 20 minutes from Elliott. If Crossland got injured I don't know how we name a side - we'd have to throw Gamble or Clune into hooker.
