2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Good for him. Should get a decent contract and I wish him all the best.
Would have liked him to stay and repay all the $$ we paid and rehab we supplied.
Yeah that would of been the loyal thing to do, unless there was no contract on offer from us and he just wanted to secure his future. Tom Opacic, Esan Marsters and Taylan May still off contract.... maybe worth signing one of those?

We weren't going to offer Edrick much.
Goes alright, but made of glass. We have Lucas, Vea'ila, Mapapalangi, Davie Armstrong, Fletcher Sharpe and Ethan Ferguson all coming through and looking for a spot in the 3/4 line - not to mention Hodgson and Mac Baker.
Lucas, Vea'ila and Mapapalangi could do a job right now if 2 of them weren't injured.

Wouldn't surprise me if he just didn't have a deal on offer from us, Tuala and Young on the books for next year. Have to be happy for him, to come back from what seemed certain retirement and not look out of place, he's done very well. And proved he's still got plenty to offer.

I don't think anything we have replaces Lee, but good on him i'm sure he will prove his worth.

Club really has more holes to fill and the players mentioned are young kids, losing way too much experience

2023 we need;

Half
Five Eight
Outside Back
Back Rower

And probably more
Yes that is what we need, Half, 5/8 & Back Rower urgently and good quality not a Elliott, a Outside Back not so urgent as we have a few coming thru, chase Burton

Apparently he has a player option for next year.
If true he is the best half on the market.
Doesn't kick goals very well though and isn't a leader yet.
But we are desperate.
player option for 2024 not 23 but free to talk as of November 1st this year if he chooses to not take his option

If we really need experience in the backline, and maybe we do with so many young guys, we just need to give Hunt another year. He's good to go if he can stop leading with his jaw.
Totally agree. Good defender and make the hard carries

Article that speculates that the Knights will make a long term play for Milford, but the only "evidence" offered is that O'Brien said that teams with experienced halves are doing well.

No bad blood but definitely not fussed his leaving.

Bound to be plenty of acorns falling out of the tree from the dogs, anyone we would look at?

Still have Pearce's money so $$$ shouldn't be an issue.
Eddy seems like a perfect Bennett signing - he'll be the wrong side of 30 before his contract is up, is a busted unit, and was fantastic when Bennett still had all his marbles.

Yeah at the moment his got oldies and unproven kids, I think only Isaako is under 30 right? Otherwise a bunch of reserve graders. Can't wait for the Bromwich's and Felise to go Adam Blair at the West Tigers on them.

Raymond Faitala-Mariner would be one to look at IMO, had plenty of time off injured but was a very good player in a rubbish Dogs side beforehand.
Kikau, TPJ, Hetheringon all signed from next year onwards and he's off contract at the end of this season.

Big backrower who runs a good line, loved a try running off Foran in 2020.

They just said on 360 Hetherington is free to talk and knights are interested as well as tigers and dolphins

Jack Hetherington free to negotiate.
They just said on 360 Knights, Tigers and another team are interested.
I think he'd be a good pick up, has a dig, trys hard. Only downfall is he gets suspensions a fair bit.
