Henderson is still in that group. Good solid defender but didn't really own the team in the Flegg finals campaign.
Who? Donoghoe? Yeah shame we didn't keep him, but looks like Rivett will be his replacement. Noah Ryan left, i think to Raiders? but we seemed to go strong with Henderson and Sutton swapping out as halves for rest of year and into GF. Hendo and Kurt were GF halves pairing, unsure if Sutton was overlooked or was injured.
Taj Blackman has had plenty said about him, guessing he is eligible for SG Ball still or just JFlegg. SO between Mitch Henderson, Liam Sutton & Ryan Rivett having pre season in FG squad that a few stong looking young halves there, behind the likes of Clune, Crossland, Gamble.
Never been more interested in lower grades performances than last year and continuing into next season, each week will be excited to see how everyone goes. Great young forward pack coming through and a few talented outside backs in Ferguson, Maps, Vea'ila, Armstrong and Hodgo who im desperate to see finally have an injury free year(s)

Henderson is one of those guys who never looks flashy, but gets the job done with little fuss.
I think the toughest game Flegg had this year was the one against Canberra where Canberra played like it was a grandfinal and had 3 sin bins and a send off while they tried to bash us out of the game.
We started with Donoughoe and Riley Jones in the halves and Henderson on the bench, and we didn't really get on top of them till Jones was moved to centre and Henderson went out to take control.
His defence is his best asset, but also his workrate and organisational skills.

I'm hoping not only Joey is working with them but Barnes as well, giving the young halves plenty of guidance, fine tuning their skills. Need those specialist coaches to be constantly coaching young generation as well.
Feel like Hastings will be huge for younger generation as well, seems willing to go out of his way to offer advice.
Same goes with Jesse Southwell and whoever else is aiming to be a playmaker in NRLW comp, hearing Joey worked with her was great to hear.

Liam Sutton is a hell of an athlete. Tall, fast, explosive runner. No obvious playmaking skills apart from decent kick distance, but hell of an athlete.
If Barnes or Joey can teach him to be a decent playmaker - a 6'4" playmaker who would be the fastest 7 we have seen would be something.
Having said that, we played a Flegg game at Cessnock against a bottom 8 side and they'd probably told Sutton to try things. He was kicking on the first tackle, throwing crazy passes etc etc. We were losing an unlosable game and all you could hear was Tom Cant (captain) yelling at him to settle down. In the end we snuck home with 2 really powerful Oryn Keeley tries.

Yeah remeber you posting that after the game. seems he may be more a running 5/8. Whats Taj? more a 7 or too young to tell yet?

I would like to think that this year will be a bit of a transitional year when it comes to the juniors coming into the NRL squad. This is O'Brien's fourth year at the club and the top squad doesn't seem like it's changed a whole lot in that time. After such a bad year for the NRL side and the Jersey Flegg/SG Ball having a lot of success, I can see the NRL squad getting a bit of a refreshment soon. Need an influx now of these young guys starting to come in and around the NRL squad and start showing up the older guys, particularly the ones who are coming off-contract soon.
Pezet is old news. Shame we lost him, but he left many a moon ago. I like our flegg team, its the best its looked in years, progressing them physically and mentally to Cup and NRL is the next challenge and part of the pathways from 16's to 1st they've talked about with Dobson.

Taj was playing Mathews as Jonah Pezets understudy as a 14 year old in 2019. Only game I saw him play was when Pezet was injured and we lost our only game of the year - but he was 14.
I've only seen him play 2 or 3 times since and I was more impressed by his 5/8, Jye Linnane. I still don't know if Jye is a son or nephew of Steve Linnane, but he plays a lot like Steve - aggressive little scrapper.
Yeah went through the HMatts team today and saw Linnane’s name. Be interesting to see what Dobson and coaches bring to Matts and pathways in general. Club done well to identify SG and Flegg current crop. Need to continue that, but increase earlier identification. Any who. Im

A vast majority of Rugby League supporters consider the NRL and NRLW two entirely separate things. In fact, the NRLW is further removed from the NRL than Harold Matt's, for example, because at least there's vertical integration between the NRL and its junior competitions.
The NRLW has a niche supporter base. In and of itself it's a great thing but there's literally no cross over between it and the men's game, it may as well be a different sport. It makes perfect sense why a commercial entity would curate content purely for the NRL.

Rugby league is rugby league, whether it is played by men or women.
The only difference between our men and women’s teams is that the women know how to tackle. Over the last 2 decades, our men’s teams have been a disgrace defensively.
I see it as the same sport, but with the women bending their backs and having a go, while the men’s team don’t like the tough stuff in defence, with all parties promising to do better next week, or repeatedly telling us they are providing entertainment .
What a load of bull dust Knights men, have a go (what a group of prima-donnas!), or get out of the way of our young Flegg men who we are sure will get the job done.

If all Rugby League is the same why do you even bother watching the NRL? Why not just head on down to your local footy field and watch the under 14s Toongabie Swamp lizards have a crack? The answer is because not all Rugby League is the same. Appreciating a spectator sport to its fullest extent presupposes that it is played by the very best players, etc. Hence why rep footy is generally better than a regular season game.
The NRLW is played at a level of young teenage boys. And that's being generous. It's entertaining to watch because it's interesting to watch girls who are competent and talented have a crack. But to suggest that the NRLW represents the sport in a form that does it justice is a silly comment made not from reasonable thought but for the sake of argument. I get the point you're making, and I kinda agree with the sentiments. But let's not get carried away with what's real and what's not.
Who cares what level it's at compared to the men's game, there's no need to even compare it. It's a totally different thing, and both have different things to enjoy, and both attract different audiences too. Personally as far as the Knights go, I think the women are far better to watch.
