Nanai was the more hyped prospect of the two, Luki is just very much the kind of forward we tend to be keen on. Kai Pearce Paul over in England who we’re allegedly looking at has a similar rangy build.

Never thought I’d say this, but I’d be looking at bringing Sione back next year. He’s absolutely thrived playing left backrow for St Helens. Got his confidence back in the collision, so much so he’s ditched the headgear. Safe to say he’s been the form backrower for the last 12 months. He’d fit the way we were using Fitz on the weekend perfectly. Suits the faster game, showing a great right to left pass, perfect backrow line running and consistently strong defence.
I’d be looking at getting Pearce-Paul and grooming him to take over Frizells position the year after, much better on the right, with his left foot step getting him on the outside of his man with a rand handed offload.
Would be looking at Pryce to fill the 14 role and step up at fullback and 5/8 when needed. Groom him to take over the 5/8 role the year after.

Super league has nothing on the rigours of NRL. Sione for a homecoming I'd be open too but guys that aren't really dominating that comp just yet would suffer here. Clifford's young still so nobody is taking his jersey from him.

It's easy to say that, but I really think it depends on the team and players surrounding them. Players go to new levels or get worse when they go to a new team all the time. Sione is all effort, he's the kind of player who would fit seamlessly into Melbourne for example.

Always loved Sione. Effort, passion and aggression in everything he did. He just seemed to lack a bit of height and size for the style he liked to play. But maybe the game has caught up to him in that respect? We could certainly do worse than have him in the squad covering for depth in the backrow

100%.. the competition is certainly improving in quality but not where it needs to be yet. Only guys dominating the comp or really young blokes that would benefit from NRL systems early are worth the punt. Believe Pearce Paul is only 20/21.
With regards to Clifford, 100%. Definitely see him moving to the 7 role though, depending on how long Clune is around.
Back on Sione, and watching him closely at St Helens (the joys of living in the UK now) he seems to improved in the areas that we’re letting him down. Moving positions constantly didn’t help. He certainly isn’t playing like an h undersized forward at the moment.

Hard pass on Sione, best thing the coach ever did was tell him he wasn't good enough.
I couldn’t take the worrying about head knocks if he came back. I don’t really think he should still be playing tbh.

Not to mention that prior to Dane Gagai rejoining us, Sione was the last remaining player from the Bennett era to leave the club.

Tend to agree. But AOB seems to want an energetic first receiver ball player at 13, the spread of which is very thin in the NRL. Probably why he is trying to groom Simi to play that role - if they don't exist create them.
