2022-2023 Summer of Cricket

Scott Boland will play in the test tomorrow instead of Josh Hazelwood.

I’m very happy with this selection, Boland has had a dream start to his test career and deserves to hold his place. Hazelwood is an exceptional bowler but Boland‘s form at present is irresistible.

It’s another disappointing performance by South Africa in this game, unfortunately they are not competitive in this series.

Good to see Green and Warner playing well.

If Green and Starc can't bowl we'll need Boland and Lyon to both put in big shifts.
Marnus and Head both bowl a bit, so they might be used to keep the 3 bowlers fresh by holding down an end.

Australia will have a big lead on the first innings but they will have a very depleted bowling lineup for the second innings.

The game is at a very intriguing point.

If the there is some spin it the pitch, Head could bowl a lot of overs.

Not getting scores, last I have is lunch today, what happened to Starc missed out on that.
Didnt realise Greens injury was a fracture, we are now slim in bowling attack but we do have runs on the board

Starc dislocated the middle finger on his left hand while fielding and has ligament damage, he can bowl but will be out injured after this game for 6 weeks. Starc will obviously struggle while bowling in the second innings.

Good that we have Hazelwood to come in, but need cover for Green.
Damn Green is having a good knock for having a broken finger

Justin Langer isn't shy about telling the South Africans what they are doing wrong.
Yesterday he was into them about not having an analyst on staff and leaving it all to the captain.
Today he's quizzing Jonty Rhodes on if Ngidi has always been fat, and why no one is doing anything about it.
He's pretty annoying, but he doesn't mind calling a spade a spade.

The South Africans are not competitive with Australia in test matches at present.

The main interest in this game for me was the performances of Green, Warner and Carey and how Australia coped after the injuries to Starc and Green.

It will be very interesting to see which bowlers Australia will select for Sydney.

It might be different in South Africa ... always a problem with tests in Australia, they are so dominant at home ... it's not always the greatest viewing in terms of competitiveness.

South Africa were in with a good chance of making the World Test Championship final before this series ... looking like Australia vs India will be the two sides now ... should be a good game in English conditions, which both sides don't usually enjoy much!

It’s the first time in 16 years that Australia has beaten South Africa at home, South Africa won the last 2 series here. Beating South Africa in South Africa may be much harder.

Must feel sweet to finally get one over them at home. A couple of those previous series were really epic watches.

Given the timing of the final it will be interesting to see how Australia approach it, its scheduled prior to the ashes series which already sees us playing 5 tests in 6 weeks. I think we will approach it like a tour match and rest 1 or 2 of our bowling attack.

So Australia will be playing 6 tests in 2 months. It’s poor scheduling. Lucky we have plenty of talented fast bowlers.
