Must feel sweet to finally get one over them at home. A couple of those previous series were really epic watches. It’s the first time in 17 years that Australia has beaten South Africa at home, South Africa won the last 2 series here. Beating South Africa in South Africa may be much harder.
Given the timing of the final it will be interesting to see how Australia approach it, its scheduled prior to the ashes series which already sees us playing 5 tests in 6 weeks. I think we will approach it like a tour match and rest 1 or 2 of our bowling attack. It might be different in South Africa ... always a problem with tests in Australia, they are so dominant at home ... it's not always the greatest viewing in terms of competitiveness.
South Africa were in with a good chance of making the World Test Championship final before this series ... looking like Australia vs India will be the two sides now ... should be a good game in English conditions, which both sides don't usually enjoy much!
So Australia will be playing 6 tests in 2 months. It’s poor scheduling. Lucky we have plenty of talented fast bowlers.Given the timing of the final it will be interesting to see how Australia approach it, its scheduled prior to the ashes series which already sees us playing 5 tests in 6 weeks.
