2022-2023 Summer of Cricket

Thankfully we have a big Summer of cricket to raise our spirits. We have the Mens T20 World Cup starting on home soil on 16 October, with the Big Bash and test matches with the Windies and South Africa to follow.

Good to see that Tim David has been picked instead of Steve Smith. Tim has been in good form wheras Steve has been struggling.

Glenn Maxwell is sadly out of form at present and does not deserve his place in the team at present. With the benefit of hindsight, Cameron Green should have been picked place of him.

Definitely. The thing with maxxy is he can turn it around in 1 innings and smash balls all over the park. What do ya bloody do?

Maxwell keeps getting out cheaply and he is battling at number 4. He could play an exceptional innings but he is too inconsistent at present.

I think Green is the safer option and he has more capacity to develop further.

Cameron Green is replacing Josh Inglis in the Australian T20 World Cup squad. It will be a good opportunity for Cameron and it strengthens the Aussie team.

Steve Smith has not been selected to play today, Tim David has been selected instead. This is a good move.

Maxi has been selected on reputation rather than form.

The Kiwis got off to a flyer and they are now smashing us. The hoodoo Australia had over the Kiws in limited over cricket is now dead and buried.

The way Australia is playing at present, they are not serious competitors in this tournament.

Australia have been below their best in the lead up matches and lost 2 to England and suffered their biggest loss ever in a T20 match against NZ tonight. Australia’s current current lack of form is more than bad luck.

That was a great night of cricket, that’s all I’m saying! 😂 Thought the innings by Finn Allen set the tone, every time we’re in Australia we look shell shocked and overawed, he always plays like that no matter the situation and I think it gave everyone else a bit of confidence. Then of course Conway is just all class.

New Zealand conclusively outplayed Australia and deserved their win. Finn Allen took on Starc, came out on top and Australia never recovered.

Just watched the India V Pakistan game, India looked gone at least 3 times and they managed to win it.

At it’s best T20 is a brilliant game to watch.

What’s with the weather in Aus atm? Getting a lot of rain for this time of year. Not making for the best tournament at the moment!

We are having a weather event called La Niña (which means the girl) and when we have this it rains very regularly. Sydney has had the wettest year since records started being kept in 1858 and we are still in October. This La Nina event is expected to continue until the end of 2023.

Well I can’t talk, last month was an absolute shocker in NZ too. It’s been ok since then though … should have held it here! 😛

A very important game tonight: New Zealand Vs England. Australia need the Kiwis to beat England so they remain in second place and Australia will then need to beat Afghanistan on Friday to qualify for the semi finals. So go the Kiwis!

I get the feeling we're due a bit of a slip-up, and England will be super motivated. So not confident for this one, but fingers crossed for us (and Australia!)
