We have 2 consistent batsman in Smith and Labuschagne and the bowlers who can stick around but not much else at present.
 
Huge partnership this one. Paine has been poor in all facets this series but can make up for it with a big one here.

Smith is also playing at a time where the quality of bowlers is much lower then what Tendulkar faced and the pitches are way more bat friendly as well with all these roads they like to trot out.

If the little master was in his prime right now I’ve got no doubt he would be averaging closer to Bradman then what Smith is.

Hasn’t been many decent bowlers for England either.

Smith is the only component batsman in our lineup taking advantage.

All others wouldn’t be in the 3rd best side for Australia 10/15 years ago when Tendulkar was in his prime.

The standard across the board has dramatically decreased.

This England attack is pretty good. Broad and Archer is a pretty handy opening pair. Not a lot behind them admittedly.

There were roads and **** bowlers in Tendulkar’s day as well.

I have him on par with Lara and slightly ahead of Ponting. He was a brilliant bat no doubt. There’s no reason to cheapen Smith’s achievements to further validate him.

Broad is just about passed his used by date and Archer is very green especially in the test form. Though he is a good bowler in the making.

Of course there were roads back then but no way near as regular as they are these days. All about the revenue now so the more 5 day tests the better money wise.

Sh*t bowlers everywhere as well but you can’t tell me with a straight face that the quality overall is as good as it was when Tendulkar was playing. It’s gone down dramatically. He went through the mighty West Indies pace, Pakistan when they were at their peak, South Africa at their peak and then also had to face our attack at our peak. Smith hasn’t had anywhere near the consistent quality that Tendulkar faced.

Not cheapening Smith’s achievements at all. He has done very well and like I said a lot better then I ever thought he would. But he isn’t in the class of Tendulkar.
 
The incredible thing about Smith is not his batting style, it's the fact that he changes his batting style to suit the bowlers he faces and for the conditions he plays under.
Greats like Greg Chappell or Alan Border had a style and some scoring shots they spent years developing and didn't change for decades.
Smith might play a completely different style next week if he feels like it, and he will make it work, even if he decides to bat left handed or hold the bat upside down.
It's not cricket as we know it.
Alan Border only had about 4 shots and waited patiently for the right ball to play his favourite shot.
Smith will make up a new shot halfway through an over if the bowler is doing something he didn't expect.
 
I love the way Smith improvises new shots. He is developing his game with each innings. He is truly a freak and we are very privileged to be able to watch him play.
 
Really absorbing play during Australia’s second innings. A good example of the glorious uncertainty of cricket.

We need some decent partnerships to put together a reasonable lead.
 
Smith is seeing the like basketballs now.
Archer comes on and Smith swats his first 2 deliveries for 4 like someone was chucking underarm practice balls at him.
Smith has decided to push for the win by smashing another quick ton.
 
Smith is demonstrating that he is a class above all the other batsman in this game. He has freakish ability with the bat.
 
The Poms has played into the Australian’s hands by coming out with a defensive mindset in the second session today. They had taken 4 quick wickets before lunch, they needed to resume the attack after lunch.
 
Broad has actually given up on bowling Smith out. He is bowling wide in the hope that Smith will play a bad shot to **** ball.
 
Should win this Poms 2 down and big total to get or nearly a 100 overs to survive can’t see it other than Aussie win weather permitting
 
With all the numbers and records from Smith there is another record coming up for him and it is significant

Wally Hammond holds the record for the fastest player to 7000 Test Runs, He did it in 131 innings (80 tests)

Smith now has 6,870 runs in 122 innings (67 tests)

He will smash that record which has stood since 1946
