Siddle with all those back complaints want to back it up in test cricket. These selectors are nuts.

Apparently Siddle has been taking lots of wickets in England, swinging the Duke lots, I agree it seems a bit backwards but form is form.

Our cricketers are playing as well as the Knights. Our Ashes campaign is off to a bad start.

Smith still our only bat capable of playing the moving ball. God bless that man and his weird *** technique.

Amazing innings from the legend. I’m gonna be completely stuffed at work tomorrow but it’s worth it.

High praise to Smithy. Coises on typical pommy crowds continuing to boo him after a magnificent innings.

And our selectors ~ no Starc equals big problems. If he is injured come out and say so. And Mr Hohns Head, Travis and co. are just hit and giggle merchants.

Didn’t stay up, bed after first session, hoped for somewhere near 200 and a ton to Smith, very nice to wake up and find both in excess of wish. Some failures with bat but some good assistance from Siddle and Lyon. Unsure if 5 & 6 is our best options but time will tell. Over to the bowlers now.

I watched it until Siddle was batting and gave up and went to bed.

It was a great return to test cricket by Smith, he is a class above the rest of the batting line-up. We are privileged to have him!

Our batting is looking like a one man band at present.

We're gone if we don't dismiss England for a modest score.

I think we’ll be ok. Their batting lineup is pretty ordinary too and they don’t have a Steve Smith to bail them out.

I agree their batting line-up is suspect as well, we will find out tonight.

Our bowling attack looks thin with no Starc etc. if we can bowl them out for not much over 300 we will be right in it.
As for batting Wade better score some second dig, surely we would have been better with Maxwell, Marsh or astonishing who can add a bit with bowling. When you loose 3 early batsmen 5 & 6 don’t look so good, Siddle to bat 8.

Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh's batting is not up to test standard at present. Shaun Marsh has had plenty of chances at test level and he has been able to establish himself as a consistent batsman, his numerous injuries have made it difficult for him.

This makes you wonder where Steve Smith will end up after he retires, He has an incredible record and has only recently turned 30

I was thinking that myself. Bradman obviously is the best batsman of all time by a long way but Smith has moved ahead of all the great batsmen who averaged in the 50’s. No other batsman has averaged in the 60’s for an extended period. If Smith can maintain his form for the next few years he will end up being the second greatest batsmen of all time which is a massive achievement.

We are privileged to watch him play, there may not be another batsman who will be able to play like him and to achieve the results he has.

For Smith's first 15 tests he was a bowling allrounder who batted well down the order and averaged in the mid 30s.
His next 50 tests he has been a batsman and has averaged in the mid 70s.
He didn't score a century till his 12 test in his 4th year of playing tests.

It looks as though it's we are going to get smashed in the Ashes as well.

Someone needs to help Steve Smith.
