2019 Ashes Series

Chasing 350+ isn’t easy with a good attack but a wicket or two can change situations, we did well to score what we have, rather be Aussie than Pom.

Both the openers have gone and only 25 on the board.

If I was English, I’d be very worried.

F&@K we lost.

I did not see it but sounds like Stokes played one of the greatest innings in test cricket history.

It really was a game we lost rather than England won, but good luck to them.

Paine blew it going for the team's last review to an LBW appeal after Cummins pitched the ball 4 inches outside the leg stump. Two overs later they needed that appeal when Lyon had Stokes plumb LBW ~ ball hitting middle stump and umpire not game to raise the finger against a rowdy aggressive English crowd.

Didn’t watch game but thought we would win, big chase, Stokes obviously played well. Big last wicket partnership. Think we can say this was one that got away.
First the football and now the cricket, tennis hasn’t been great and Union less said the better.

The cricinfo commentator I was listening to said the Aussies choked and he was right.

The decision to review the LBW decision was a horrible, it clearly pitched outside leg stump. It was not even close! We did not deserve to win after that.

England will have momentum going into the next test.

Good session for Australia, we recovered from a poor start. Looks like it was a excellent toss to win.

Archer only bowled 5 overs in the session, he looked flat. I was really surprised he did not bowl more.

I was very happy the Labuschagne and Starc have been selected.
Khawaja does not score quickly enough, particularly batting at three. I think Khawaja will struggle to get back into the team. I’m looking forward to watching Starc bowl.

Warner is in absolute atrocious form. Second ball duck edging at a ball half a metre wide of the off stump with no confidence whatsoever. We are in dire need of Test openers.

Warner needs to use the middle of the bat, become more aggressive, hit it or leave it not in between. Poor start but pretty even, be good if can double it 330-60. Labuschagne very good again and Smith classy.

Smith is the best batsman of my lifetime.
My father talked his whole life about his father taking him to see Bradman bat.
I feel like people should be taking their kids to see Smith in the form he is in now.

I had Smith on par with Ponting at his peak. But this series he’s overtaken him for mine. He doesn’t have near the quality around him that Punter did either.

Tendulkar is far and away the best batsmen of my lifetime and it’s not even close in my opinion.

Smith has definitely gone up the list. No way in the world I would of thought he would get to be this good.

Tendulkar played 200 test matches at scored 15,921 runs at an average of 53.78. Tendulkar was a great and very stylish batsman.

Not including this current test match, Smith has played 66 test matches and scored 6577 runs at an average of 63.24. At present he is statistically the second best batsman in the history of test cricket to play more than 20 tests. I don’t care that he is not an elegant batsman he is very effective. As they say you can’t argue with runs on the board.

Smith has scored 11 hundreds against England now. He now has more hundreds (26) than fifties (25) and his average is now over 64. As Billy said, Smith is the best batsman of our lifetimes.
