Beau Scott voted Members' Player of the Year

Thu 9th October, 02:09PM

Beau Scott has been voted the Newcastle Knights Members’ Player of the Year after a standout 2014 season.

Thousands of the Club’s most dedicated and passionate Members regarded Scott as the most outstanding Knight this season.

It’s been an incredibly successful year for the 30-year-old who captained the Country representative side and played all three games for the series wining New South Wales Origin team.

He has also been recently selected to represent Australia in the Prime Minister’s XIII on Sunday.

Scott was humbled by the accolade and expressed his appreciation to the Club’s Members for their support throughout 2014.

“It’s awesome to know the Members value what I do in the team,” he told Knights TV on Thursday.

“It’s very exciting and I’m grateful for the award.

For the dominating forward, the highlight of his season was winning the State of Origin series with the New South Wales team.

“There was an eight year stranglehold by the Queenslanders, so it was great to break that this year,” he said.

“I obviously enjoyed playing week in week out with the Knights too.

“Members mean everything, we wouldn’t have a game without the fans and the Members in particular.

“We saw the strong support of the Newcastle last year when we made the semi finals, so I hope to see that again in the future.

“Hopefully they get out there and support us in 2015.

“We finished the season really strong I thought, especially the home games and the Old Boys game.

“To see such a large crowd at Hunter Stadium is awesome.

“I think there are bright times ahead at the Club, and 2015 should be an exciting year.

“There’s a lot of young talent coming through the Club that I look forward to playing along side of and people should look forward to watching.

“Get on board in 2015."

The Knights 2015 Membership goes on sale on Monday. The Membership website is set to go live at 9am.

Very well deserved too!

On another note, that'll look good on his cv too, when Defender1 trades me for Antonio Kafusi in the draft haha

With the Memberships do packages get announced Monday too? Missed out this year due to no cash, but keen as for next year!!

"Well thanks everybody & thanks for the lovely words from the players, it was humbling... I don't have much more to say. Thanks."

It ****es me off that he has already clocked on with the broncos. Like 2 or 3 weeks ago he was already seen in their gear making decisions on their future doing a press conference like the season wasn't even over and he was doing that. When we got him from St George he took like 1000 years to clock on with us

Bennett, what a ****.

Didn't even know we were still doing the hall of fame! There wasn't much (any) talk about the inductees this time ...

So Darius was there. I guess that makes me happy....I think.

Where the hell is Tyrone?

Unless his girlfriend was in labour, or he is dead, there is no excuse for him not being there. I hope he was just out of camera shot.

Scott honoured with Danny Buderus Medal

Fri 10th October, 11:12AM

Newcastle Knight Beau Scott has taken out the prestigious Danny Buderus Medal at the 2014 Newcastle Knights’ Presentation Night held at Wests New Lambton on Thursday evening.

“It’s a pretty exciting night for myself,” Scott said after receiving the accolade.

The Danny Buderus Medal otherwise known as the Player of the Year Award capped off a big night of recognition for Scott who also received

Wayne Bennett's Coach's Award alongside Alex McKinnon as well as the Gladiator of the Year Award from the Once a Knights Old Boys.

“You always think you want to put in enough effort to achieve a little bit of recognition at the end of the year, but to be given a couple of awards tonight, it’s great," he said.

The night was an opportunity for Scott to reflect on his successful season which included representation in the Country and NSW Origin teams.

The list of achievements continues for the dominating forward who was selected in the Prime Minister’s XIII to play the Papua New Guinea Kumuls on Sunday.

Immediately after the awards ceremony the 30-year-old travelled with fellow Knight and PM XIII teammate Sione Mata’utia ready to fly to Papua New Guinea on Friday.

"Sione and I are off in the morning. I look forward to the trip to PNG and hope to come home with the right result,” he said.
