2009 Knights Side - Opinions

i think you forget that simpson isnt really a front rower, he is capable but is better suited choosing when to run rather then continuously tryin to gain metres, i dont think cross had poor form at all he was only hindered due to injury plus he really hit the spot towards the end of the season, also i think we have good depth in the second row plus theres gotta be a couple youngsters coming through:fist:

Nice to see someone on here actually have an opinion.

Yes I do realise Simpson isn't a front rower, though nobody can deny he doesn't look out of place playing in the front row, he's just that type of guy who can play front row/back row.

Cross only played well in rep teams, time to take those rose tinted specs off for a minute and realise he was nothing but average for Newcastle.

All in all Simpson has to play front row to keep Cross on the bench imo.

The only thing Cross might be handy for is some impact off the bench.

you know what you actually changed my mind about the simmo debate lol
he is a hard worker and thats what u need in the opening stages, then you bring on cross some1 with definite impact that should open the game for some good direct attack down the middle of the field.

im also worried about the backline we have to much talent and i think we are going to end up losing a quality played.:fist:

I'm sure Dureau will be given the first shot alongside Mullen he was at the start of this year and has earned the 7 jersey on a permanent basis

I dont think thats how Smith sees that. I have this gutted feeling he'll put Rogers alongside Mullen :fist:

i hope not. dureau is the future for the knights and he and mullen already have a good combination too. dureau has a much better passing and a hell of alot better kicking game, lets be honest we say the dragons final game were he blew it. waste of money only because we have our halves he is an alright player tho but id rather look to the future:fist:

Scott Dureau is probably the knights long-term half, but i'd still like to see Luke Walsh get a run a some point next year.
what happened to "Walsh is the perfect replacement for johns". he was great 2007

His attack was decent but was a speed bump or less than in defence

1- Gidley
2-McManus
3-Maddog
4-Naiqama
5-Vuna/ Uate
6-Mullen
7-Dureau
8-Tolar
9-De Gois
10-Simpson (Set's a good example for the younger forwards to follow! Very solid)
11-Patterson
12-Housten ( i know some people put him on the bench but he's an 80 minute player not impact)
13-Taia

14-Cross
15-Tafua
16-Fa aoso
17-Rogers/Hilder (utility)

Huge bench!!!!!!

I cant split Dureau & Walsh to be honest, they both are small, good ball players, speedbumps. But I think Dureau will rise under pressure, where as Walsh wont.

I think that team is a quality side!

But after losing Johns, Bedsy and the other half of the team in recent times...why havent we bought higher profile players or even bid at least...Ben Rogers??? Never heard of him till he signed wit us as far as i know Post-man Pat May be a better player than him i havent seen him play!

GO KNIGHTS 2009!!!

Who cares how high profile they are, as long as they are decent!

We don't want to end up signing a high profile player, wasting all our money and it's someone like Ben Ross at Cronulla!

2009 Team

Luke Walsh is that **** he is a deadset turnstile whereas Dureau can tackle reasonably well. Ben Cross also isnt worth what he is getten paid; he had a **** year whereas people like Fa'aso and Tolar shreaded

My Team
1- Kurt Gidley
2- James McManus
3- Adam McDougall (if resigned)
4- Junior Sau
5- Wes Naiqama
6- Jarrod Mullen
7- Scott Dureau
8- Daniel Tolar
9- Issac De Gois
10- Steve Simpson
11- Chris Housten
12- Cory Paterson
13- Zeb Taia

14- Matt Hilder
15- Mark Tafua
16- Richie Fa'aso
17- Tim Natush ( cant spell his last name lol)

I also dont understand our reasoning on signing Ben Rogers and letting go Matt White and Jessie Royal very silly. Royal and White are twice the players Cross and Rogers are.

If the following Knights players signed elsewhere:

- Kurt Gidley
- Jarrod Mullen
- Steve Simpson
- Cory Paterson
- Ben Cross

It would be considered 'high profile'

There is 5 weve got already IMO.

Gidey 5 years ago would be someone we couldn't care less if he left... but now you can barely grab him for an autograph. It takes time... will be interesting in 5 years time who is 'high profile' by then.

I'm thinking:

- Jarrod Mullen
- James McManus
- Aku Uate
- Isaac DeGois
- Cory Paterson
- Zeb Taia has got it in him.
