I think we are still a few years behind them. Last year they were a genuine top 4 team and were in the 4 all year until the 2nd last week of the comp. Had they not had all those injuries, they probably stay in the 4 and the broncs don't win the comp last year. Even with all their injuries this year, they probably make a prelim minimum this year.

If we are being honest, we are clearly a few levels below the top 4. Our 14 wins have largely been against bottom 8 teams and only 5 of them have been 13+ margins. Conceding almost 100 pts in the last 3 weeks against bottom 8 teams is also evidence of the fact that we are still a few years away from being contender. But that's ok. This is just year 1 under Justin.

I don't know. They've kind of proven that the halfback position is basically an optional extra for them. Their halves really aren't nearly as ball dominant as they are for the other NRL teams given how everything they do goes through the middle via Egan and Clark. They almost put 50 on the bunnies without really venturing past the two goalposts. They probably lose more by an injury to Fisher-Harris, Clark or Barnett. Still going to be an almighty task tomorrow given their pack is unchanged. We all know how important Phoenix and Friz are to our middle.

I think we need to lean into our expansive play. Second faze offloads hopefully to break there rhythm. Surely having cup halves will affect them? Put pressure on the them.
 
We look really good when we have second phase play, on the flip side when opposition does it to us we really don't handle it well.
 
Based on todays Roosters performance, I really don't think we can rely on them doing a job for us next weekend. Increasingly more skeptical about a home semi.
 
Sorry if this has already been discussed.

If I'm reading the ladder right, to get a home semi, we need to win.

If we lose, we need to not be flogged (or at least not concede a cricket score) and the Sharks to win.

In that scenario, the Cows can catch us on wins but almost certainly won't pass us on the ladder because their points differential is -65 and we're (currently) +56.

The Rabbits could pass us with a win over the Chooks, which would move them to tie us on 14 wins, but they already have +86 differential. So given Walker has gone now and recent form, that doesn't look good for us.

BUT....if the Sharks win today, they can pass the Chooks (tied on wins and ahead on differential) and pinch their top 4 spot, if the Chooks lose to the Rabbits on Friday and Sharks beat the Storm on the Saturday. So the Sharks should be desperate to win today, and the Chooks should be desperate to win next week.

IF the Chooks beat the Rabbits...we move back to 6th with the bye.

If the NRL just ignored byes and posted wins and draws, this would all be a lot less confusing.

tl;dr We're not out of it if, for a home semi, we lose today.
 
We didn't get any calls the last time we played the Rabbits at Accor, for obvious reasons. I expect Uncle Wayne will be happy to go back to that well if he can find a way to set that narrative... would love to be playing at home, and preferably v the Cows.
 
Roosters will have to win to even make top 4 so they won’t rest anybody
Yes Walker out isn’t ideal but Tupou and Crichton should be back so there 2 big ins
And still wasn’t impressed at all but rabbits yesterday thought titans played one of there worst games of the season

Yep this is the perfect example of where our young talented kids are having to go due to the political views on retention instead of the ability these boys have or where they could be in the future if being supported.
It happens to often especially in the nursery of talent that the Hunter Valley and Newcastle have.
I know them decisions were made in the past and that's no reflection on the current club structure.

Instead of bagging or having a crack at the existing local boys that are doing there best coming through first grade now because of injuries and having no choice with what depth we have.
Support them, acknowledge them when they do something good, because without what they have contributed so far we wouldn't be in the semi's.
Now there's alot of well established players including well known rep players that are contributing to numerous errors, missed tackles and poor decisions in attack and defence that are affecting us also.

Don't forget we still have that wooden spoon from last year.🤔
Stay positive it doesn't happen overnight!!
