2025 Recruitment And Retention

So really all this is more about DCE and less about Dom? I'm not saying he hasn't had his defensive issues, but it sounds more like the roosters can't quite get DCE over the line and have started picking on the bloke they deem expendable. With the roosters kicking in this is like a no brainer for me, but we'd want to move fast.

Add in the rumours that they’ve also tried to shop Tupou to rugby and I think this is on the money. I get them trying to move Dom on but the Tupou one is awful if true.

Yes take Dom back, especially if $200k is going rate and more especially if he wants to come back.
Deal must be done soon by all accounts just use the important criteria, does Dom want to come here.
If yes then we shouldn’t have to bid if he lets Roosters know his choice, if it becomes a bidding war then he is not keen on being a Knight again.

If I’m a young man who’s made the same move I’m less inclined to roll the dice at a new club but stick with what you know works… but maybe that’s just me.

Reported that if Dom doesn't decide to come now we won't be going after him next year.

Big fan of that ultimatum. Ensures Dom is genuinely keen to return to Newcastle so he commits to a deal that is favourable to us now.

Either way we're not going to be stuffed around waiting for a decision, we either notch a massive win in the next few weeks or move on to other targets in positions of need.

All this talk and he’ll probably end up going elsewhere 😂

200K is an absolute no brainer though. Get him on the next plane.

So I guess if we get Dom, Schiller will go to reserves? I could see Dom playing a few games in Reggie’s first I think.

Update on the Dom story in the Telegraph, Ritchie says “barring an eleventh hour contract drama” Young will be announced as signing with the Knights by Friday, at training on Monday and playing against the Eels next week. Says both clubs have agreed on the terms financially.

Injured right before the season started, broken foot. Apparently before that he’d been really impressing them at training. :(

For 200k, every recruitment guy in the NRL is currently looking at their cap and sharpening their pencils to make a bid.
We won't get him for 200k.
Gotta remeber that they get payed from November 1 so he already been payed 6 months this year.
And almost every club in NRL if a team trying to move a player on that has multiple years left, that club would have to pay fair chunk of his freight and word is we only offering $350k roughly so his money would have to be made up by roosters to match what he signed for which was near $500k a season
