Fletcher Sharpe discussion

AOB said the other day he wouldn’t swap a player in the NRL for Fletcher and if he could adopt him he would. Watched pretty much all of AOBs press conferences over the years, besides KP I’ve never heard him rave about a player like he does with Sharpe.
He did say last year that Tom Cant was a guy you would like to see your daughter date.

Don’t know what he’s on now but 4 years is a reasonably long deal so I doubt he’s in the poor house. Could be $350K, could be Peter was really proactive and got him over $500K already.

POS is no dummy and knows the #1 thing is keeping the boys happy. And we know he never ****s around when it’s a player he believes in. I reckon we’ll ensure he’s on a deal which makes both player and club happy. And it’s all a lot easier to manage if we’re winning.

He is an absolute gun
Fletcher looks better every time he plays. Nobody really knows where his ceiling is on both sides of the ball. Very strong in defence, doesn’t hide out on the wing, and able to break or skip out of tackles.
We should be very happy he has come along through our pathways, loves the game and more importantly, loves playing for the Knights.

Don't even need to look at the stats, every time he touches the ball it seems like something big could happen. If there's half a gap in the line in front of him he's going through it. Defenders can't let their guard down because he'll already be past them by the time they look up.

Could've had 2 runaway tries easily last night, not even including the chip and chase - the one he put down off the Marzhew offload, and Bradman cutting back inside right on half time when Sharpe was on his outside. Both times he sprinted from far away to get in the perfect spot. Just great vision and instincts.

I want to give this guy a massive rap. OK, hat trick yesterday, looks good in broken play, we knew we'd get that. What has amazed me this year is his defence. There were .moments last year that made me think he wouldn't be a liability in defence, but he has well surpassed that and looks like one of the best defensive halves in the comp. Gray was dynamical ever yesterday, but several times took Sharpe on and was so easily eaten up. For defence and broken play running alone, this guy looks so at home in the 6.

Yeah I’d like to give him a wrap too.

So that try off Pongas grubber was absolutely freaky. Obviously the commentators at FOX were as awestruck as myself for a couple of reasons. The speed in which he materialised out of nowhere was phenomenal but the fact he bobbled it while superman flying through the air and regathered for the put down at breakneck speed is out of this world talented.

It reminds me of something I saw Greg Inglis do years ago. (Not because it was the same but just freaky) He was running full pelt to catch a ball, grabbed it and scored. That in itself is nothing extraordinary, that is until it was slowed down on replay. While he went to regather he wasn’t looking at the ball at all but was looking for defenders giving chase behind him and reeled the ball in without even looking at it at full gallop. These guys have some crazy natural ability most could only dream of.

I think there’s going to be plenty of highlight reel moments for Mr Sharpe yet.

Saw this during the week which I thought was interesting - Sharpe the fastest 6 in the comp (based on actual 2025 data). When you combine that with his skills, you’re going to have a hell of a player.

Crossland the fastest 9 too, which I wouldn’t have expected. But I guess it’s not a position blessed with huge speed.

He actually had a few good kicks yesterday which is a big improvement, hopefully he can keep improving in that area. And keep working on his ball playing.

Surely you’d want your daughter to score a few more points than Tom cant
Tom was the goal kicker and captain last time we made the GF in Flegg, so he scored a lot of points.
I'm surprised he doesn't kick goals now - plays 80 minutes and was an 80% + goalkicker
