Feels like they need to rebuild their whole team. We just need a few key positions sorted. Could well be that we're in a better spot in a few year's time.
 
I really do think Kalyn will be a bit old for them. Teddy was 25 in his first season with the Roosters. Kalyn will be pushing 30 when he arrives there if they sign him. Very different situations.

They’re also not going to push Teddy to retire if he wants to play on beyond 2027. As ruthless as they’ve been with other guys, he’s a genuine club legend now, and their captain. And what would they be pushing him out the door for? I think it’s pretty unlikely that team will be right on the cusp of a premiership the way the Roosters were in the late 2010’s. They’re also not losing finals games because of Teddy the way they were because of Pearce.

Still pretty convinced that if they’re gonna chase a big signing it’ll be Keano Kini, who’s a similar age to Walker. Either that or they’ll just leave it until Teddy decides to hang them up or go to England, *then* they’ll chase the big signing. The smart move for them is to really get after it when Sam approaches his prime rather than fruitlessly chase it now.

Three years to go, 25, 26 and 27. Counting this year, which hasn't happened yet.

I don't see why he wouldn't re-sign if we are tracking well. As I said, sign a few players in key positions and we're looking pretty strong. Money won't be as big a factor for him I don't think, he's had his big paydays.

The whole brown chase is about keeping Ponga because why not go and sign Toby rodwell or Ethan sanders. This about winning a comp and keeping Ponga.

POS has said he won’t look at extending Ponga until he fixes the rest of the squad so Ponga will know what the squad will look like and make an informed decision. Very smart operating IMO. Other clubs can’t even talk to him until the end of next season and so much can happen by then.

It will depend on where we’re at, and more importantly where any clubs chasing him are at. If the only clubs chasing him aren’t in any better position than the Knights are he’ll stay on IMO.

Need to remember that the top clubs that are guaranteed to be in premiership contention dont need him as they have great fullbacks themselves, so probably the clubs after him will be clubs around our level or below. The wild card could be the Roosters who always have the money to build a new premiership roster, but tbh the likes of Penrith and Melbourne are going to have to decline considerably for the Roosters to be a genuine premiership threat in the next few years.
 
Ponga isn't looking to leave now, but if we fail to sign Brown, after failing to sign Pezet and we have another year of sub standards halves, next year it has to start playing on his mind.

Teams can't officially talk to him but we all know there is contact behind closed doors etc. Interested if he "becomes available" etc. Then suddenly Ponga is asking for a release. He will get favorable media support stating he has done plenty for the Knights and the Knights can't build a team around him etc.

Ponga has given us plenty of time to put together a premiership threat of a team, for mine we either get Brown, or some other top tier half, or he will be gone at the end of contract, if not sooner.

Roosters have shown they do not give two hoots about who they move on if they are not winning. I don’t think I’ve seen many if any since the start of the NRL era who are the exception going back to Fitzgibbon (who was turfed and lost captaincy when they struggled and won wooden spoon) when he was there. Mini was considered irreplaceable until RTS arrived. And then likewise until Tedesco became available heh. They are as ruthless as anyone

RTS left them to go back to NZ and they replaced him with Michael Gordon, *then* set their sights on Teddy. They never wanted RTS out the door.
