I haven’t really talked him up. I’ve just said he’s more competent and consistent with his effort than the players we have now, and he’s better than the likes of Jock Madden and Jaeman Salmon. Damned him with faint praise if anything. In fact my first reaction when I heard the club was likely to sign him was anger and frustration.

Apologies for putting you in it HVG. I think with what was on the table it's a good signing.
 
I thought Gagai would be miles better for us this year, it’s pretty incredible how badly his stats have fallen off a cliff compared to 2021 when you compare them on NRL.com 😔

Even more depressing when you head over to Fox who keep more defensive stats - which are subjective to an extent but tend to not be too far of the eye test - and Gagai leads the comp for ‘Line Breaks Conceded’ with 31 in 19 games. Enari Tuala in 2nd with 26 in 20.

It tends to be true when the edges are getting torn apart that the problem is happening further infield, but sometimes the middle defends well and the blokes outside them are just ****ing up. Melbourne had a big issue with that during their losing streak when forced to scrape the bottom of the barrel of their reserve outside backs due to injury. We have that issue with first choice or key depth players.
 
Frizell has been garbage too, I think we thought we were signing an experienced leader who leads the 1%ers, instead I think we just got a quiet guy who keeps himself in great shape and looks really good out there till you watch him closely…

A competent coach and get Cliffords head sorted. Payten proved there’s a talent in there and he carried that on in his first few games for the Knights until the AOB tax took a hold of him.

I dare say try getting your grassroots sorted and build from within as well. Penrith and now the Cowboys are showing the way. Continually buying journeyman and quick fixes isn’t exactly showing the way for promising talent coming through and they have provided zero success for near on 20 years. Pezet in the Storm system is criminal after seeing what he did in the U19’s origin game.

The amount of quality players coming out of the Newcastle/Hunter in Newcastle Knights colours is abysmal considering the size of the area. That should be sorted ASAP. Penrith had a very similar problem up until 5 years ago when Gus ripped it up and built the club from within.

All good mate.

I think he’s competent. I think he’ll replace Clifford/Milford on that right edge and we’ll be happier with him than with those two. And if we get Brooks, we’re giving him better support than we ever gave Pearce, who we saddled with non-halves most of his time here and realised the mistake too late when we picked up Blake Green mid-season out of panic after losing both Brailey & McCullough to season-ending injuries.

I think he’ll be a fan favourite because he tries really hard and he’s a top tier pest, fans love those guys when they play for their team and hate them when they play for others.

But we’re in a bad bad spot as a club that he’s the best solution we’ve found to the halves problem so far.

And if you have a problem with a post then report it, this has been the rule here since day one. Moderators (me) can’t watch the place 24/7. No point having a cry about something weeks later when you didn’t mention it at the time.

The knights come up stop and hold, giving the opposition too much room which is made worse with players anchoring his legs and take that extra second to make contact when the opposition player changes directions. Another thing Gagai, I'm not sure where his looking at when he attempts to make a tackle ( not sure if his good are tracking his tackle contact spot)

I've got no problems with what he said, simply stated that Reynolds has his fingerprints all over the Broncos attack, as any experienced halfback should.

It's just the Daily Fail wanting clicks as per usual, I'd say Brandon Smith saying he wants to win a premiership at the Roosters while still being paid by Melbourne is worse and nothing ever came of that.
 
I can see why they're running with it, but really there's nothing wrong with what he said. It seems to be on a podcast type of situation which is a becoming a more popular format every year and allows for a bit more of an open, honest conversational type of interview which I'm all for. As much as people like to hate guys like Latrell, personality is what gets people talking, what gets people interested. Not robot good guys.
