Tyson Gamble

To sumarise for people who haven't had a listen. Didn't play in any rep sides at all growing up. Got a run in Redcliffe's 20's and impressed but seemingly didn't know anything about structures, defense strategies etc when he arrived and wasn't taught at Redcliffe either. Got a top 30 deal at Tigers and squandered his opportunities being played out of position and again not having any football knowledge about defensive structures (e.g debuting at hooker when he said he'd literally never played a game there before). Played well in reserve grade at 6 in his time there, however they didn't see him as a 6 and didn't rate him playing anywhere else and he looked for an opportunity elsewhere where he subsequently moved to Brisbane at a time where they had no halves depth. Had a **** first game for brisbane however again always went back to reserves and played well. Kevvie became coach and gave him a few decent opportunities at 6 and he played well enough to start getting some consistent games in the back end of 2021 and then 2022. Signed with us as he could see writing on the wall with Mamm killing it and his first grade slot being taken away.

Thanks so much for the overview

I'd like to see Gamble have an attitude change in defence.
All his time in lower grades seems to have made him half hearted in defence, with a tackle efficency of 83%, but he seemed to make all the important ones in the big games, even one on one tackles against very good players - but still missing 5 or 6 tackles a game.
Cogger was defending at 90%+ in the big finals games with 1 or 2 missed, and even injured, Hastings was tackling at 92%+ all season.
Whether it's fitness or attitude, Gamble defends like a reserve grader, and doesn't have to. He makes big tackles when he puts his mind to it.

he has it in him, if I remember rightly in that 10 wins in a row he made some text book one on one close to the line tackles on some forwards moving at pace

Interesting point Bill and your data backs it up. That being said, I thought Gamble got better every game and I have always loved his intensity and energy. Loved it even when he played for the Broncos. I have a mate who is a mad Broncos supporter and he always rated him. He is one of my favourite players even though he has only been with us for 1 year .
