2021 signing rumours

Silly season rumours so far;

Clifford to Knights - we all hope it's true
Pearce to Roosters - seems unlikely
Green to Knights - very likely he will be here in some capacity
Lino to Canberra - possible
Sione to St Helens - possible
Hoy on loan to a Sydney club - unlikely
Widdop to Knights - unlikely
Bailey Hodgson to the Knights - possible but not likely
James Roberts to the Knights - not happening
Wighton to the Knights - not true, but i'd donate money for this one if we could make it happen

Defender 1, remember we have to cover Frizell’s $800k contract. That will likely come from Guerra and Ese Ese.

If we are covering a middle forward with Glasby's money who should we go after in your opinion. I dont know anything about them but Eisenhuth is a big body as is Rhys Kennedy from the Bronco's.
Tolmans a hard working prop he wants to play on and at 31 not too old .

Toohey is on holidays but saying Clifford wasn't on the radar and he thinks he only would be if the Green deal fell through.

Normally i'd be for the young Clifford over the ancient Green every day of the week, but next year we are shooting for top 4, and Pearce and Green could get us there, while another rookie half, no matter how promising, won't.

Green will be a 1 year deal I am guessing so say we make the 4 next year, and green is then gone. We are back to the same spot we are now.

Whereas Clifford would have a year with the squad under his belt and brings that to 2022.

Plus, if Pearce got his act together there is no reason a young half cant get us to top 4.

That's probably how some of these rumours start, dodgy tactics by giving the media tip offs so they can get it out there they want someone. I'm not one of those rugby league conspiracy theorists that think everything the media says is a lie, they would make up some stuff by putting 2 & 2 together, but often there's a fair bit of fire to the smoke. In this case, there doesn't have to be any truth to us wanting to ship Pearce, but the Roosters may well want their man.

I can’t see any truth in them wanting Pearce back. By all reports they have a gun number 7 coming through and have Lam there as well to do a fill in. Both are super cheap at the moment and helps them look salary cap compliant with their star studded team all over the park.

The Knights statement says we will talk to Pearce about a new contract when he is back from his break.
It doesn't confirm or deny we will offer him less money.
He left the Roosters because they wanted him to take a big paycut.
I think it's a pretty simple bidding war situation.
He'll go with the side that offers him 50c more.

It's a bit hard to see myself too, but it seems bizarre that they would be confident going in to a full season with Lam, a 22 year old with 11 games & the young Walker guy who hasn't even debuted. That doesn't seem like a move to get the Roosters back into premiership contenders, especially when they just got rid of Flanagan.

I went to the knights site to re-read the statement on Pearce and can't find it now.

Reading between the lines of Lam wasn’t injured earlier on in the season Flanagan May have never gotten his spot back.

And the likeliness is Pearce going to the Roosters is the same likeliness of Jesus being from France.

I watched a fair bit of Lam in 2019 playing for Norths and he has a really good running game but not much else. He was a good partner for Lamb - they both had very different skills and managed to cover everything between them.
Hutchinson is the guy I was impressed with.
A halfback big enough to play in the forwards with all the skills. He must never follow the coaches game plan or something, because i can't see why he doesn't seem to be rated, but Robinson must have a reason.

Robinson was happy to drop Flanagan earlier in the year so I can easily see them being happy going into the year with what they have. Playing roulette on Keary not getting anymore head knocks though.

Daily Telegraph reporting Sione has secured a release to take up a long-term deal with St Helens. Also Moga will join Rabbits next season.

The Telegraph reporting it and Toohey hinting at it 3 weeks ago are both about as credible sources as each other. It has to stay in the maybe pile.

I know Toohey does not normally get prior knowledge of the Knights signings now but he is the best source of information on the Knights apart from the Knights themselves. I take anything in any newscorpse rag with a grain of salt.
