Sadly it's that time, your team for 2020

I can imagine the Warriors getting the wooden spoon this year now that Brown’s part of the coaching staff. Worst coach the NRL has ever had.

I thought he was working in the football department to do with recruiting (which some articles quote as such) but it also says as a specialist coaching role which isn't the worst idea in the world considering their head coach is probably a bottom 5 coach in the NRL at the moment.

Brown did the job we wanted him to do.
I think it was a mistake to give him a year coaching the squad he put together because he'd already showed he isn't a good coach, but it's fair to say we owed him a shot after he'd pretty much trashed his reputation for us.
He got a few million pay and a chance to coach his team.
He did the job we asked.
We gave him all we owed him.
Time to move on.
Only question for me is if Wests should have put their hands in their pockets and bought a proven performer as coach.
Totally agree and I don't know who else would have taken it on. I like our squad now and where we are with juniors coming through. Brown played a massive part in setting us up for success. The only bit I disagree with you on is digging deeper for an experienced coach. I believe Obi is the right coach at the right time and I'm expecting success under him.

An interesting thought, but I don't think any of the proven coaches were worth the money really. Unless you want to pay Bellamy $2m a year once his contract with the Storm is done and IMO he's the only coach worth anything close to that amount because you can give him anyone and he will get them to play as a team.

If we were in the coaching search merry-go-round a year earlier when some other clubs were we may have had options but the pickings were a bit more slim this time around.

Lets see how Bellamy goes not coaching Cam Smith, and at other times Slater, Cronk, Inglis as well. - And what 25% over the salary cap?

Considering Bennett and Robbo have coached teams over the cap and get a free pass because those teams never got caught...

And that said he got the Storm into the GF after they lost Cronk, and then again deep into the Finals after losing Slater as well as Cronk. As well making it deep those years they Slater was injured.

Steve Folkes coached a team over the cap that got caught, doesn't mean anyone holds him in less regard as a coach or a person.

Please his had everything on a silver plate.

We all try our best sure but even we have bad days/weeks/months. You lose a bit of confidence and it can spiral pretty quick. I can forgive for a bad game or 2 but once looking at how to fix it and doing it still is what I can't forgive.

Footy being an energy sport it's all about diet and getting the body in top shape to be able to play NRL for 80 minutes with minimal fatigue. The body needs to be stronger mentally but we seem to put an emphasis on physically.

exactly mate. Some of the greats of recent times aren’t tremendous athletes. They know how to prepare every week and switch on for game time, been beating this drum for ages. Knowing your responsibilities in a team is the most important thing I reckon. Melbourne are great because they all have a role they play.

He did well last year. Bellamy coached those players, they weren’t brought to the club the same way Bennet does, I actually can’t even think of Melbourne signing Marquee players. Look who is waiting in the wings now mate, Brandon Smith, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Cam Munster, J.Hughes. Same situation, all coached up by Bellyache.

Brandon Smith, pap, Munster and Hughes have got nothing on

Slater Cronk Smith widdop inglis folau

That must have been a ripper of a team with a young inglis and falau

Any yet Storm were still minor premiers last year.

I do think based off the times the Roosters rested players they had them geared towards September.

With all the money the NRL has been making you’d think they’d be able to throw more then a measley $100k at them.

Mann at 6?

We are doomed - doomed I say.
Mann had some decent games at 5/8 last year. He also had a few poor ones.

He didn’t have a very good year off the field either which might’ve effected his performances as well.

I can’t see him in our strongest 17 but he’s a good player to have in the squad. Just keep him off the wing.

The issue is we already have a few "good player to have in the squad"s. By the time we try to fit Watson, Mann, Sione on the bench we will be doing well to get a prop in there. We have depth now

I.e. 5/8 lino, crossland, Watson
Wing Lee, hunt, toa, best, etc
Center hunt moga best tuala shibasaki
Fullback ponga Watson toa

Mann really shouldn't be anywhere near first grade... Maybe to replace Watson on the bench if he is filling in for someone.

Mann came back way too early from a fractured sternum to help the team out, and we have since learnt that Lino was playing with a shoulder injury as well.
Every side would have known those two guys were unable to defend effectively and targeted the hell out of them.
They were both speed bumps towards the end of last year, but only the coaching staff would know just how much their injuries contributed to that.
We'll see how things go under O"Brien, but I wouldn't write them off till we get to see them play fully fit.

No issue if they aren't in the first choice 17. I'd only have one of Watson, Mann, Sione and Levi in my side.
