Matt Minto and Travis Waddell to leave the Knights

Minto was so bad in those two games, seeing Boyd come back in round 4 vs Sharks made me giddy with joy, just to see a player who could at least create some effect of spark. Losing Waddell also doesn't bother me, more excited to see Levi come through the ranks to first grade either next year or the year after, and Redman is a good replacement for Travis.
 
Our best player in the 16s is also a hooker - Tom Starling. In the past that would be irrelevant because they would be 5 or 6 years away from seniors, but suddenly we are seeing 18 year olds in firstgrade, so 2 or 3 years from now we might be looking for a spot for Tom Starling.
 
I did say I didn't have a problem with Minto being moved on. Remind me again how he went in his true position in first grade here ? Just like all of Newcastle wanted Gidley banished to England until he got back to his best position now he's in everyone's 2015 team as 1.

Minto has done well in the halves in NSW Cup, but it's just hard to erase from your memory how his few games in first grade went.

I read somewhere the other day (I think a FB comment) where someone said they were talking to Waddells parent's at Suncorp during the Knights game and they were saying Bennett is taking Waddell to the broncos and he can't wait to leave the Knights because of the lack of good players here!

A bit rich coming from Waddell!!

I'm only guessing (I can't rembember) it was a FB comment but if you like I won't pass on anything I hear (especially from FB) unless I put it to you first to confirm or deny hey ;)

I suppose we'll know if it could've been true if Waddell actual does sign a broncos contract.

If could be true, I just don't think it is too much as Waddell seems like he is enjoying his time here in Newy. But, he did have a close relationship with Benny when he was here IIRC so it may be correct but that would surprise me coming from Waddell.
 
His a Qld boy and not accidently on a kazillion dollars good luck to him if he does get a gig closer to home.

It's strange that someone would just make up such a comment but who knows!?
 
I remember he didn't seem too keen to comment when they interviewed him the week after that Melbourne game ... about a contract for next year. Usually players say they're keen to stay, but he just said he was leaving it all to his manager. Oh and he laughed about Stone being appointed as coach.
 
Well he was better this year but clysdale is def better than him, we have redman as well and randell so no point in keeping him really

You also got guys like Ross, Hilder, Filipo & Wiliame out of the guys who train with first-grade who'd be looking for a new deal. Toohey said a while ago Hilder was retiring, if he is actually retiring it's a bit weird that they didn't mention he'd get a farewell, 100+ game Knight, still trains with first-grade etc. so not some random reserve grader who's leaving.

Which reminds me, Dave spoke to Gagai about staying on at the Knights and he made a similar non committing blase statement.

Hilder definitely deserves better than what hes been dealt lately. For some reason hes been treated terribly by Bennett. Starting with being hooked in that game and it was all downhill from there. If he is retiring he should totally get a big send off.
 
And what of David Fa'alogo ?? Yes he is ageing but that doesn't seem to be holding him back. Our game with Eels demonstrates this. I have a feeling stone wont want to retain him and I will be dirty if we don't keep him for atleast another year.
