Hoping to see Hilder or Adams in next week. The forwards aren't as effective as they are overrunning the ball or needing to slow down because Waddell takes forever to pass.

Otherwise, same team next week. Not confident, though.

Even though we lost today by 1 point, we can still beat the Raiders still confident reason why

1 Raiders defence aint as good as Sharks.
2 Raiders can't hold on.

Bad thing is they have attacking options. But if we can defend well we are in a great match.

I'm still waiting for those that think Hilder's not NRL standard anymore to tell me what Waddell has that he don't have. I know if the game turns into an arm wrestle who I'd like beside me. Fa'alogo to start Mason from the bench. Willy is nowhere near as effective against fresh opposition and the talk Bennett had with Snowden a couple of weeks ago he needs to repeat it to Houston.

Good call with mason off the bench

Agree, Hilder's service from dummy half (while not perfect) is better than Waddell's, not to mention having a higher tackle rate as well. Waddell's defence is quite good though, I'll give him that.

Well after a loss at home I am confident of the boys bouncing back with a win Against the Raiders,
With that being said lets have a look at the stats for this one...

* These games are usually high scoring affairs averaging 46.3 points scored per game

* The average Margin of victory is quite big too, it stands at 17 points

* Round 2 2006 will be a day that nobody forgets, it is the day that these 2 teams set a record for most points scored in a match with 102 (Knights beat Canberra 70-32)

* Timana Tahu has scored 4 tries in 7 games vs the Raiders while playing for Newcastle

* Akuila Uate to everyone's surprise did not score against the sharks expect him to remedy that against Canberra, He has scored 8 tries in 8 games against them

* Tyrone Roberts has a great record against Canberra in his short career Playing 4 games, Scoring 2 tries and kicking 11 goals for a total of 30 points so far

* Akuila Uate only needs 1 try to go to outright 4th on our all time leading Try scorers list, If he scores a Hatrick he will go past Joey as well into outright third spot

* Kurt Gidley will play his 200th game for Newcastle against Canberra, He is only the 7th Knights player to reach this milestone

* I know Newcastle can be inconsistent but Canberra are just as bad if not worse their last 25 games look like this - WLWLLWLLLWLWLWLWLLWWLWLLW

Summary

The game against the Sharks was a disappointing loss to say the least. It's always a tough road trip to Canberra but we have shown we can win down there in recent times. The knights bounced back well after being beaten by Manly to beat the Cowboys and I think the same will happen here. As you can see below I am tipping Uate to have a field day and continue his impressive record against Canberra.

Knights - 26
Raiders - 16
FTS - Uate
LTS - Uate
MOTM - Gidley

Statsman's best bet - Look to knights 1-12 ;)

I agree if they want someone purely to start the game and do all the tough work so gids disnt have to how are they not picking Hilder or even Adams, Hilder would be great in the middle to start game then do the rotation their doing now.

The same way were suppose to destroy the sharks? Any score line to either team would not surprise me.

Please don't put me in the destroy category, I bluntly said in the Sharks thread page 1:

Yep plenty of guns in Sharks side and they only need to remember the trial when they won in the last minute.

Anthony Tupou is dangerous late in the second half, and you can't tell me with players like Carney, Gallen, Gordon, Lewis, Fifita, Graham that its going to be an easy one.

Add De Gois coming off the bench, they should be placed a lot better but haven't gelled properly yet on field with all the drama off it.

Similiar to us last season on field not being able to really click.

I'm not one eyed when it comes to games and have the mentality 'we will smash them by 50 coz they just suck' like others here.

I have bet what is the equivalent of my life savings in terms of VCash, on the Knights. I am super confident. And whenever I am super confident I am never wrong.

Ever.

Your I-told-you-so-ness has officially reached Phil Goild proportions.

Alicia, you just say we're gonna get smashed every week!

I was mega confident for the Titans game, not so much against the Sharks, mega confident again against the Raiders. They're pretty much incapable of winning games back to back and knowing their team they'll most likely be overly confident and not take us as seriously as they should. I really can't see them being good enough to play the high percentages back to back while I have no question we're going to be absolutely seething and fired up to win. Like the Sharks against us, we'll be wanting it more.

We know we can outplay their forwards, we did it only a few weeks ago so we can do it again and I think we have the much better backs to capitalize. We also know we can win away from home now and winning our last few against them will surely give the team a bit of confidence. The Raiders have been playing some horrible footy so hopefully we can force them to go back to that and work hard on staying disciplined.

You did predict we'd win 34-6 against Cronulla, but agreed that probably is a lack of confidence by your standards. :P

Ha! Nah not I told you so. I just can't believe we get a comment saying we are going to get burnt by the raiders? Who knows what will happen with this match.

Alicia, from memory I had you on the sharks had no chance team. My apologies.

I have to agree, any delusions we had that the team had finally reached some sort of consistency should be shot out the water after yesterday's game.

We definitely lacked intensity in patches yesterday, but I thought Cronulla were very good too. They're easily a top 6 team when in form and any team with a 92% completion rate is playing some good footy.

I hated that we refused to match them though and let them roll through us. They were just more hungry for the win.
