BLACK Caviar, one of the most popular and successful horses in Australian racing history, has been retired after an unbeaten 25-race career.
The champion mare is undefeated in 25 races - a record unequalled in more than 100 years.
Winner of almost $8 million in prizemoney, she is considered to be the best sprinter in the world.
The Peter Moody-trained six-year-old has been ridden by Luke Nolen in all except three starts.
Before today's announcement, Moody had said there were three - perhaps four - options for Black Caviar, who won the T.J. Smith Stakes on Saturday in Sydney.
