Just wanted to know people's thoughts about him and his attitude. Undoubtably a good player but comes across as a bit of a ****er with his ridiculously slow play the balls followed by a 20 second whinge at the refs and he made an absolute **** of himself in a recent interview (the 2nd time he's done it.)

He does seem to be a little bit of a ... It's probably just a media thing, because his dad hates the media then I think he thinks he has too, but he does it really poory and seems awkward, and yes his slow play the balls are annoying, he is ten fold compared to last season, at least he is playing the ball now :D
 
I think the arrogancy is helping his game, he's much more involved and fiery than last year.

His play the balls go slow when he feels he should have gotten a penalty, he does play them usually ok.

As mentioned in the other thread... He hates the media. I don't know why they bother interviewing him.
 
If he keeps playing the way he is he could be the most arrogant ar*e hole to draw breath and it wouldn't bother me.

Very true his running from dummy half has been great. He needs to tone it down bit with the media because all he's doing is making an idiot of himself.
 
I think Alicia has pretty much nailed it...I think they only interview him because they know they will get a reaction...as long as he is playing well I don't care how he comes cross in the media..they should just leave him alone and let him do what he does best...play footy
 
Wouldn't surprise me if Wayne has rubbed off, and to be honest why would these players wont to talk to the media. They bag them all the time!!! I don't think he made an idiot out of himself, he just comes across arrogant in interviews but so does Wayne most of the time.
 
You may be speaking to the media but at the same time you are communicating to your fans. His arrogance really ****es me off....but ive just never been a fan of Boyd.
 
A forum member said the highlight of the last home game was running into Boyd in the car park a having a photo taken. If he's playing good footy and treating fans with respect in person he can bare his ar*e to the cameras for all I care.
 
I love the guy. I think he'd be my fav. He took a while to find his feet but he just keeps getting better and better.

I wish we had of kept Gidley at fullback who was great there and invested the $400k towards a decent prop which I still think we are atleast one light.

Boyd has a habbit of looking great in games were we are smashing teams and is quite MIA when the going gets tough.

You could say that about pretty much any player in the side ... Boyd was one of our best against the Dragons, though.

Personally I reckon some fans have it in for Boyd coz he replaced Gidley at fullback and will find anything to have a complain about when it comes to him. Probably not gonna be a popular opinion, but there you go.
 
It was stupid to buy Boyd when our captain on a long term deal was playing fullback. Now we have nowhere to put him.

Now he is here the only issues I have with Boyd are his tendency to have a sulk on the field, weak kick returns and glacially slow play the balls.
If he wants to act like a **** to journos that's his own concern.

Been like this since his days at the Broncos. If you hang on for one second too many he will try and milk a penalty and throw his hands up in the air or push the opponent back if the markers are too close. I'm actually surprised he gets away with that a fair bit actually, seen many penalties given I'm surprised a player doesn't dive like he did on Sunday when he copped a good hit.
 
Re his kick returns. I have seen several times this year he has picked the ball up and charged flat out back at the defence. other times he looks to link up with Uate who has absolutely no idea how to support his full back. Boyd is on a hiding to nothing.
 
Last year he always returned it weakly.
This year he must flip a coin while the ball is in the air because, as you say, sometimes he charges back and other times he strolls and meekly surrenders.

JamesGould does have a point and a good one.

But when your replacing a local, captain and most respected player in the team, you need to be a superstar to justify.

Being Bennetts boy doesn't cut it for me and while he does add some polish to our attack when its on a roll, so did Gidley and I'd argue more with his rover role.

He was a rubbish buy and the money could have been spent much better elsewhere.

Some say they impressed by his arrogant sook attitude...... Are you serious?
 
I hate how he makes himself look like a ****, i hate how he plays the ball slowly every now & then & i hated last year when he never ran the ball hard. But i love what he adds to the team in attack, so much so that i'm worried about how we'll play when he's in Origin. He sets up way more tries than Gidley ever did from fullback. Gidley was an awesome fullback & did everything equal or better than Boyd apart from the try factor. But as long as Boyd keeps setting up tries, keeps running out of dummy half & runs hard then he's got a spot easily. His defence has even improved from last year.
