Who will Bennett axe, retain & recruit for 2013?

Yeah Taia is our biggest loss for sure imo. But with Houston, Smith, Scott, Costigan, McKinnon all demanding spots in the 17 and young guys like Tetevano, Anderson, Sims, Rochow pushing, it's not hard to argue with the decision. Would've preferred Costigan to go instead though.

Agree

Hmm, I'd take Taia over Houston, Costigan and McKinnon. And it wasn't a pay drop from what we were told, he was just told he wasn't wanted. :-/

Thats where our opinions differ lol would keep Houston and McKinnon over Taia any day of the week as much as I love Taia. What does everyone else think?

Taia is the best player there behind Smith in my opinion. Scott is pretty much in line with Taia aswell.

Yeah fair enough. I just love Houston's workrate and leadership and McKinnon is easily one of the best prospects in the NRL whereas Taia's already probably reached his peak (which is quite good, nothing special) and only has a few more years left in him.

Lets not forget that Taia is an edge forward who is playing in the middle. What you are currently seeing of Taia is nowhere near his peak.

Taia is a massive loss and unless we sign Smith, its gona hurt losing him

Baptiste > Clydesdale

Also screw the Broncos! How do they manage to hold onto second string talent like they do? We had one bloke (KOD) who came through our system (2yrs). As soon as he showed potential in FG he was snapped up... The Broncos had Gagai just sitting there doing nothing, Baptiste should wake up and leave
Baptiste would be 2 years older than Clydsdale, and we probably need a guy who is firstgrade ready next year if Bedsy can't play, but if Clydsdale keeps improving at the same rate he has this year he will easily be better in two years time. At the start of this season Clydsdale was actually lucky to get 15 minutes in the last NYC trial to show he had something to offer, and was really lucky to get a spot in the squad. Since that time he has pushed three quality players in Chad Redman, Chris Knight and Tyler Randell - all a year older than him - right out of the hooker role, and Knight had to leave the club to get a game.
In recent weeks Clydsdale has topped the tackle count about 5 out of the last 6 games and he is one of the most involved in attack too.
In short, he has gone from fourth choice hooker to just about the best player in the side in half a season, and he has one more season of NYC to keep improving.

When I said Taia has peaked I meant that we've already seen him at his best in 2010, I don't think he'll ever exceed that form and as good as it may have been, I know I'd rather put my trust into someone who's played consistently well for 4 years and into the potential of a future star in McKinnon.

Anyway Im starting to sound like I'm bagging Taia when thats the last thing I'd want to do. Just saying, we were always going to have to cut 1-2 of our current backrowers with the inclusion of Scott and Smith and personally I'm glad it wasn't McKinnon and Houston who are leaving, feel for Zeb because he is a great player but it had to happen. Edwards and Costigan would've been more ideal.

Well looks like Stagg is not coming here

#NRL According to the Sun Herald, David Stagg says if he can't get a new deal with Canterbury, he will retire

It says in the paper that manly are tight on the cap for next year which might push Brent Kite out, hes contracted for next year so if Manly paid some of his wage he would be a better option than Justin Poore in my opinion.

31 isnt that old..he has a few good years left and i dont think he would want to retire he's playing some good footy atm.

Stagg is a bit overrated i think andif he would rather retire than play for someone else then his heart would'nt be in it and after watching Poore play last night don't want his lazy overweight arse here either .

How can he be overrated when no one Rates him?
