Confirmed: Knights sign Beau Scott for 4 years

Once Bedsy leaves though, we'd have to be saving some of the cap to sign a decent replacement.

I doubt we bought back Buderus just for the fun of it, he is probably here to groom our next hooker. I reckon Adams or Redman will take over in 2013.
 
I really hope we can keep guys like Kyle O donnell and Likliki and Taia. Something tells me that Tuimavave and Fillipo will be gone and money towards Scott's signing from them.
 
Mika, Tui, LikLiki, Buderus and Robchow all off contract (thought Mika was already gone) great for depth but not really needed.
 
Beau Scott to knights!!

It's been confirmed Newcastle knights have signed NSW and st George Illawarra backrower Beau Scott.

Personally I think this is one of the best signings we have made in years! A big hard backrower who can play centre and has controlled aggression.

What's everyones thoughts on this?

He's with Hull KR so no, he is not with us anymore. And there's atleast 15 players off-contract, most 2nd tier contracts.
 
We spent the last half of 2011 revving up about 2012. Now after one week were talking about 2013. Worry about who we have now and how we go this week.
 
Houston won't play prop, he is too good in the backrow.

Also is anyone else surprised by the timing of the announcement?

forget about just backrowers being nervous about their futures, might be a centre or two that get tapped on the shoulder too...

As said before guys in the second tier cap like Mark Wade, Marvin Fillipo and Daine Laurie are off contract. IMO Tuimave is only first Tier that will go.

Kyle O Donnell = still cheap coin and worth a 2-3 yr extension
Joel Edwards = Cheap coin will definately get 3 year extension
Zeb Taia is on around 300k but will be retained
Richie Faaoso will be retained IMO 3 year contract
Tonga Likiliki =cheap coin and will get a 2 year extension

With the Salary cap increasing, And the knights saying most players will be kept. To me thats says that any players bought will be bought with cap increase

If we keep current roster and extend contracts, Scott and one more quality signing will just be out of salary cap increase so don't worry too much :)
