Knights members information evening - Monday 28th March

Any news on Andrew Poole's meeting with the members tonight? It'll be interesting to see how many turned up and what was said

I saw a photo of Leanne Mullen there last night talking to Poole?

No way she'd be against the deal.

She is against it the article in the herald says she roasted Poole about his website making false claims. As far as I can tell the people who spoke at the function were against it and went so he would know that!

Assuming thats Mullens mother?

Does she still take on kids from outside the area in junior teams? iirc she took on Paterson. No doubt under Tinkler she'd be able to this a lot more comfortably.

Sitting on a lone chair at the front of the stage, Mr Poole provided details of the Patrons Trust, which guarantees a minimum $1.5million for each of the next four years, and described keeping the club community-owned as the superior all-round offer.

This sentence is self-contradictory.

Although committed to four years, Mr Poole was confident the trust would not be required beyond that term.

Far be it for me to question his business nous, since he's obviously a wealthy man and I am not, but I can only see a rugby league club getting more and more expensive to run. $1.5 million that he has the cheque written out for will not even wipe out 50% of our debt.

At least we know now that this scheme is all donated money, and there's no need to repay it, but I think this article should prove to anyone still swaying that the Tinkler deal is the only real option.

I honestly can't believe that Burraston would want this over the Tinkler model either. What is he thinking?!?! Certainly not about the Knights and their long term future and success.

I think he means that with the new TV deals and IC the club will be more self sufficient. However being self sufficient doesnt win premierships.

Yes, but the salary cap will rise with this increase in funding, other wealthier clubs will use the funds to buy more support staff and upgrade facilities, better junior development, etc.

If we're using that extra money to merely stay self sufficient then we're effectively as far behind as we've always been.

Exactly, the Patrons trust arrangement may keep the club going, but it doesnt have the same capacity as the Tinkler deal to move it Forward into the future.
