After having a bit of a think over the weekend about this subject, ive got some changes to what i said.

Cant think of another solid, long minute front rower off top of my head
* Ennis to me, even tho ill disciplined at times, offers more in the form of football playing that Farrar, who could be either brilliant or terrible, if Ennis is having a **** day, he is usually still pretty good.
Gidley to be the utility.
In the next year i think Idris will grow like crazy and be a full time 2nd rower, and a big 1 at that. Lewis for his versatility as a second rower or ball player, Douglas also for relief to some forwards

So much can change between now and Orgin next year but the nucleaus of that team would make a strong side. The captaincy needs to go to someone who leads by example and Gids best role is that of utility so that rules him out and Peirce and fill that void as he did last game. He would bring a lot of enthusiasim and could lead the team for a while giving the side some stability. As for coach no one jumps out at me so I will wait and see who puts their name forward.

What the heck do people see in Mitchell Pearce, everyone talks the bloke up to be a world beater and does not perform. I 'am astounded to see a Knights supporter listing him above Gidley as Captain, let alone you think he should hold the captaincy above Gallen, Farah and Lewis who all captain at club level.
Hayne is a lot different, he only played for Fiji in the 08 world cup because he wasn't selected for Australia. He had already played for Australia by then, and would not have played for Fiji if it affected him playing for Aus / NSW.
Uate has always played for Fiji, and played after the 08 world cup, meaning he has to do the two year stand down.

Gallen is not Captain material, Farrah wont play the whole game and either will Lewis so that rules them out. On Pierce its not just what he does on the ball but off it that makes a captain. His defense was outstanding in that third game and he did so good things with the ball as well. Plus as I mentioned before he brings stabilty to the team and Gidleys best role is off the bench to add some spark. Pierce brings a lot to the team plus his young and can hold the position for quite some time yet.

He dosen't unless we want to lose another series. Another dinosaur they will reselect no doubt thou.
Gasnier is young enough to capture his best form....his best form made him the best centre in the game...arguably the best its seen. He scores a swag of tries at all levels and he sets up just as many...he's perfection. If you were building a centre you would build him. At his best (its a big 'if' that he will get back to it, but you must admit he CAN do it, especially under Bennet) he has the silky skills of Gidley in terms of putting a winger away, he has the pace and footwork of any of the other centres, a big fend and that bloody awesome 'shimmy shimmy woosh' that just leaves everyone standing still. Gasnier has smoked (and yes I admit, been smoked) by Ingis at Origin level....but Inglis can beat anybody we pick on his day, so bugger trying to stop him, lets pick one of the few blokes we have that can genuianlly give it back to him, and with interest....This is all hinging on him finding his form, but look hes obviously hungry, hes got a gun coach, he isnt that old and hes pretty fresh, he hasnt done much in a year or 2. WHy cant he get back to the Gaz of old?

If I were Uate, I would stay with Fiji regardless. He has already scored the most tries for Fiji (it is only 5 tries but it is already the most) and I think he could become one of the best Fijian players of all time.
Although, I could definitely understand if he changed his allegiance to Australia.

Mitchell Pearce dosen't even captain his club side though, and has never captained them before :think: . For the record his defence 'appeared' to be good in the third game because he had blokes like Lewis, Bird and Gallen defending beside him and when you look back to game 2 when no one was 'protecting him' he let through a really soft try that most halfback's would of stopped ( Except Dureau ). His kicking game in Origin is terrible also and we were lucky we had Barrett kicking otherwise Pearce would of looked like a joke.
I just don't see the bloke as Origin material and think the spot would be better served with someone like Wallace or Mullen.

Wallace was hopless and Mullen can not maintian form long enough to push for a origin spot. I did have Lewi, Bird and Gallen in my team so they could protect like Queenslands back row protect their halves. We have to pick a captain who brings stability to the team and I thought his kicking game wasn't that bad plus Soward would do the majority of the kicking. Gidley would be first choice as captian but I can't see him cementing a starting spot.

Stabilty??? NSW's fowards dominated in game 3 and with the blues leading 18 - 13 with a few minutes left most Halfbacks should control the game and grind out a victory by slowing play down by kicking for line or whatever, pearce did not provide stability for NSW, most Half's thrive on situations like that and having your fowards dominating the opposition should make the job easier.

That was a mistake by the hooker and the lack of a genuine halves partner. The fact NSW hardly touched the ball in the last 5 mins didn't help either and yours seguestions of Mullen and Wallace would have done a better job. IIRC Wallace was the halfback for the previous 4 series defeats and Mullen has yet to prove himself in big games. This attitude from the media and yourself of looking at the negatives would never be displayed by QLD and thats why we come up with these **** teams by picking people like Wallace and Barett who will never lead us to victory.

Quite like the team, However, Id put Carney at 6, I can just see him and Pierce forming a pretty dangerous halves combo, which would suit NSW to a t. ALso Hayne can stay, as long as he can show solid form (ie last night, and last wednesday) from here on in, he's a bit like benji marshall, either off or on, no in between, other wise, Coote at FB
