Vegas 2026

Well my parents just got back from the us and they said it's all ********. Everyone over there is quite happy and there is no political unrest. Media fools gold.......
Some of my wife’s family and their friends have moved from California to Spain because of the political situation in the USA. They are now happily living in Spain.

Trump only won the election by a narrow margin, the US is very polarised and many Americans are deeply unhappy with his administration.

Obsessive vetting of tourists and other visitors particularly investigating their political views will damage the USA’s reputation as a tourist destination and will help not make America great again.
Ironically enough weren't there guys with visa issues last year because of past behaviour? whoops

Anyone with previous infringements in the USA can reasonably expect to have issues upon arrival at immigration there.

But I’m reading that many blameless individuals are being denied entry to the US for no good reason.

I go there quite often and its not as bad as the media makes out. The big cities are all anti Trump but out of the cities its all pro Trump. Unless you walk around in a MAGA hat you wont have any issues. The only bad change I've noticed is how expensive everything has got in the last few years over there (compared to NZD) .

What about wearing a maga hat with the Made In China tag sticking out?

I was over there in 2018 and it was a lovely enough place, most people were friendly and just going about their day. I asked a couple from New York about their political views and they made it clear politics was the last thing they ever wanted to talk about. Their news and what ever else was on the TVs was horrid and full of biased messaging.
I would love to to back and travel around some more. I'm currently trying to justify going to watch the knights play next year, I just can't see to find a good enough reason or the funds 😄

The problem is that Trump is now unpopular not just in the cities...it will get worse if this bill effectively ending Medicaid goes through, his tariff brain fart has failed and China has won, they've got empty ports, high prices and job losses as a result and who knows how long it's going to take to fix the mess if they even can. And as much as it may be mostly fine, the Trump administration is arresting people and deporting them without due process, they're also talking about suspending due process altogether. At that point, who knows what happens then?

My big concern is that Trump is now openly accepting bribes. If Obama had accepted a $400m plane as a personal gift from he country that had bankrolled Hamas, he'd be impeached by now. So with the midterms on the horizon, his increased unpopularity and his increased lawlessness I would be concerned about whether America survives....Trump isn't clever but he has that rat bastard cunning that all scum bags have... I doubt even with dementia rapidly setting in that he's going to watch a blue wave carry him out of office and into prison.

I hope for the best for America, but I also sold my shares in the American stock market just in case.

I should have framed my point as "It's probably OK to travel to Vegas, especially as an Australian, but I wouldn't assume it's OK to travel to Vegas given what's going on".

The main one: I hope Trump attends it! 😍
PVL will probably have to give him the Opera House as a "gift", but if they get a slice of the American gambling market (which is the point of all this), it'll pay for itself.

It was telling to me how much Americans take notice of their politics when a late night talk show (kimmel i think) sent a correspondent on to the streets to ask people if they planned to vote. Of about twenty people, all said they would. Thing is, this was the day AFTER Trump had won the election.

The people who do go I hope all have great trips and post media here for the rest of us suckers stuck at home. Go Knights!

I think I've heard that whomever gives up the home game for Vegas is then automatically the away team for Magic and vice versa. So next year, even if we were designated as the away team in Vegas, our Magic Round game will be our official home game. Either way, we lose a home game to somewhere else.

Be interesting to hear about the process of entering the country now with all the reports of phones being seized and social media being examined for trump comments etc.

Been wondering if any players will be detained and/or sent home, and hopefully the fans who travel over are all ok.

Definitely not a country I'd be going anywhere near atm, it seems to have gone pretty third-world over there.

It has really entered 1984 territory

The US gov is involved in the Vegas set up with the NRL, so I don't think there will be major hurdles/issues. Fortunately the strip in Vegas isn't exactly downtown Minneapolis. Nevada is also a red state from 2024, so not a focus for the orange man.
