Toohey's News

Terrence Seuseu is an impressive athlete - much taller and more impressive looking than his father.
Might be a KPP lookalike if he keeps growing.
I didn't like him as a player last year because he seemed to drop the ball every second run, but this year he was very safe before he was injured and missed the second half of the season.
Article also says we are trying to sign utility player Riley Rostron and centre/winger Benjie Thompson from the Mats side.
Are you telling me that Kingston Seuseu is Terrence Seuseu's son?

Will Sullivan never got a chance to show what he could do.
Always injured.
Article says he played 11 reserve grade games for us. I didn't see all of them, but none I saw was very impressive.

Well, I thought that was common knowledge.
Fun fact - Terrence got to play a game for Kurri with his father back in about 2007, and I'm pretty sure Terrence and Kingston have played together at Wyong - or plan to maybe.
Another fun fact - our great Flegg side in 2006 had Jon Tupou at lock and Terrence Seuseu. 20 years later, our premiership winning Mats side had Jon's nephew (Ryder Tupou) and Terrence's son (Kingston Seuseu).

Unfortunate for Will, POS had him as a good prospect. Was he top 30? Surely a little money in the cap, with him and Dan Saifitis retirement (knights still paying). Reckon it would be worth throwing mckewan some extra dollars this year to help secure a deal with him.
Assume Hunt or Graham moves into top 30?

Don’t we have Mick Ennis’s son in our lower grades too? Or is it his nephew?

Pretty sure it's his nephew.
He wasn't in the Mats side when we played Cronulla, who have an Ennis in the halves who may be Mick's son (just my guess) - so it's possible we might see two 7s named Ennis playing against each other some day.

Does Kingston Seuseu have a brother in the Waratahs system, Lorima Seuseu?

An interesting new contributor to the weekly league section in the Herald this morning is recently retired ABC commentor Craig Hamilton.
His article today was about a discussion he had with Wayne Bennett about the high point scoring in the game this week. Bennett said it wasn't just about fitness, it was about the players being more skillful and harder to defend against, because points can come from anywhere, not just the halves.
Hamilton concluded it's an exciting time for Knights fans due to Holbrook's attacking focus.

Take Trell out of that team there 2 or 3 tries just from him his is that good a form atm. I also think a couple of Souths tries were from luckily bounces. Our tries were all from good ball movement and finishing.

In saying that I hope the coach’s and the team worked extra hard on defence this week. We have points, just get back to the defensive steal we had at the start of last year.

I feel the team is so confident in their attack now that their anxiety is gone. Dylan and KP remain undefeated on the field together. The flip side of it is that the defence has become a bit lazy cos they have been drilled so hard under O’Brien to put it first. Six years of boredom and robotic attack.

I am actually happy with the fact we can potentially out score anyone at full strength. It is our biggest chance of winning the title in the near future . We are so far ahead of where I thought we’d be, when we are fully fit, that it is giving me hope that I don’t really want or need. Actual belief we can win a premiership. Because the rules suit us to the ground. If we do get the defence fixed and the attack is unaffected then Who knows where we will finish this season.

Not saying we need to be Penrith in defence, but have some steal. If we can be in the top half to top quarter of the comp defensively then scoring more points yes.

I’m really surprised how quickly the attack gelled considering KP didn’t train with them during the off season. Round 1 they just hit the ground running.

Then again after quite a few weeks out, the spine automatically looked like they’d been playing together as long as Cody and Latrell. Very impressive from Holbrook and the players that they’re that in sync despite so little time together

Jacob Saifiti says he hopes to re-sign with the Knights, but doesn’t want to get in the way of re-signing younger players who he thinks should be a higher priority. O’Sullivan says that kind of attitude is why he’s held in such high regard at the club, and that they want to keep him, too. Jacob also said he and Daniel held no animosity towards the club for the way Daniel’s stint ended.

Greg Marzhew is set to sign a new two-year deal.

Knights officials will meet with Isaac Moses next week but no guarantee Dylan Lucas’s future will be discussed. Moses also represents Harold Matts captain Kingston Seuseu who is in demand, though wants to stay at the Knights. Toohey suggests the plan is still for Lucas to test free agency in November.

Justin Holbrook has struck up a relationship with Michael Hagan, who he meets with regularly. Toohey says Holbrook is “keen to make their association official” - whatever that means.

Great news on Marzhew. That would be for 2027 & 2028 hopefully by then we can replace him with a gun junior.

Love the attitude from Jacob, he has really blossomed as a leader this year, hopefully his attitude is contagious.

Hagan is very under rated as a coach.
Not a good salary cap manager - but a great record as a coach.
We'll never know how much input he had into Qld and Aus as an assistant to Mal Meninga, but I suspect he was the brains of the outfit.
When I was looking up Holbrook I found a reserve grade side in 2000 that had Holbrook and Ben Jefferies in the halves and Michael Hagan as the coach, so they go way back.
Just don't let Hagan go near the salary cap.

Yeah so this sucks but everything Lucas is saying sounds exactly like what players say when they end up leaving. "My manager deals with that stuff", "I'm really enjoying my footy at the moment", etc.

At the end of the day he only properly cracked first grade at a relatively old age, he's older than Bradman and would have made literally millions, maybe more than three million, less than him. It's a lot easier to sell players like Bradman & Jacob on taking $700Kish when they have more than half a decade of already earning that behind them. I of course want Lucas to stay but he is in the exact position where $1 million+ tax free for a couple of years is going to be very hard to turn down.

A lot will depend on how high he is on the priority list for these new clubs but I can't begrudge Lucas seeing what he's worth out there.
